"don't do that face." Jonathan cringed. He held his large camera up to his face, attempting to take pictures of his best friend, Josie. She sat on the hood of his car, drinking a blue slushie she bought from the gas station they were currently parked at. Jonathan tried taking pictures of their surroundings before settling on the girl next to him. She had a bright blue tongue from her drink and some of the blue started to stain her white teeth as well.
Josie laughed at his words, dropping the funny face she made toward his camera. She heard a small click from her left. After the noise she turned to glare at Jonathan, annoyed how she slipped up and let him take a successful picture of her smiling. He laughed in success before getting smacked by the shorter girl.
"Got it" He celebrated his achievement in getting Jose to smile with a smug grin. She hated getting her picture taken, so a decent portrait was a rare occurrence for Jonathan.
Jo glared at the boy, "You better not show anyone that, I'll kill you." She threatened with a slight chuckle. Her straw made a loud, hollow noise as she tried to suck up the last bits of her slushie.
He shrugged her off, "It won't even look like you," Jonathan laughed at her attempt to threaten him. It was true, over the year they hadn't seen each other, Josie grew to look different. They both had. The year without Hawkins had changed her more than she was willing to admit. Her face became more defined, showing off her high cheekbones and full lips. While she still wasn't the biggest fan of makeup, she applied some basics to enhance her eyes and cheeks. Her body grew into itself, not that anyone could tell with the style of clothing she supported.
She looked him over, "Yeah, well I don't remember you being this tall before. Plus, you look like you could use a haircut." Josie replied, also taking notice to the subtle, yet noticeable changes Jonathan had gone through.
He rolled his eyes at the haircut comment, "Have you seen Eddie yet?" he asked, referring to the boy she's had a secret relationship with for the past year and a half. Josie harshly shushed him, looking at their surroundings to ensure nobody was around before continuing.
She shook her head, "no, I am tonight but I have a few people to see first." she answered, knowing she couldn't really see Eddie during the day anyways, it was far too risky.
Days like these were when she cursed herself for having such a strict father. Not only would Jim kill her for having a boyfriend in general, but having a boyfriend who was older than her and also known as the leader of a bunch of goons who call themselves the 'hellfire club' would end up in a full blown massacre. That, and the fact that he was a pot dealer. Jim Hopper was a gift and a curse.
He chuckled at her behavior before checking his watch on his left wrist, "Shit, I got to head to work." He quickly rambled. He jumped off the hood of his car in a frenzy, gathering his camera in his hands. Josie remained on the hood, watching the boy in slight entertainment while still playing with the straw of her drink. Upon realizing Josie wasn't in any hurry, Jonathan rushed to grab onto her elbow, pulling her up from her spot on the hood of his car.
"Alright, alright." She complied, slowly making her way to the passenger seat. By the time she got her door closed behind her, Jonathan was already taking off down the road.
"Where am I taking you?" He asked.
She pursed her lips as she thought over her options, "just bring me to the Wheelers, I have to pick up Dustin." Josie responded. Jonathan sighed in relief at how close they were to the Wheelers, not wanting to drive all the way to the other side of town to make it to the Hopper's trailer.
