I drove her in my drone car back from that old world spot, that evening. It had begun to rain. The world could go acrid for all I cared. But I could smell her skin and hear her lips part to the rhythm of droplets. Her breathing kept me warm. She hugged me tight before she entered her apartment pod. While I tried remembering the jasmine fragrance of her locks.
On my way back, I put the auto-fly on and reclined the seat. I snoozed all devices and tried replaying the entire evening and her words in my head- right from the very beginning, when the clouds were chasing around the sun. I guess I slept off eventually.
Until, the storm began.
The car shook to the noise. The rain fell on my face. The red sky burst acid droplets upon the rusty earth until a black hole gobbled up all. And dark like it would always be inside a belly.
Zilch HY956 wears off that way.
I remembered faintly that a month after that old world evening, me and Lorna made love. And made love all through the autumn until the first night of winter. Lorna returned to be with her family for few days.
That night, the Rouge Axis Nations were finally supposed to pledge to world peace and submit to nuclear disarmament. But dictators were called so for a reason. They attempted to ambush and take hostage the top leadership of the Defending Alliance. But failed. Their plan B was to press the button. After all, they didn't have much to lose.
But this planet had. All major cities turned to ashes and emitting fumes, habitation's dead... global count of unexposed human survivors were estimated to a measly four digit number. They all had Nukect suits on. For that, I received standing ovations.
And I remembered I had gifted one to Lorna as well...
