“Honey let’s go” My mom called from downstairs as I jumped into my Nike shoes.
“Coming mom”
I tied my shoelaces and stood in front of my long mirror. I glanced at myself up and down and nodded before I ran downstairs.
“Ready?” My mom asked as she threw me a bottle of water
I grabbed it as if I was James bond and nodded before I locked the door behind me.
My mother and I always went for walks in the morning. It was sort of a way to stay healthy and in shape. There was only me and my mother, my father left us for a hooker when I was 2. Growing up I always asked about my dad. Who was he? Why doesn’t he show up? Why am I always the one without a father?
My mother confessed after a whole time of whining that he had left with hooker who was pregnant with his child.
*FLASH BACK*
“Mom, where’s dad?” I asked yet again. My mom sat there reading through her book.
“Mom, I’m 14. I think I’m old enough to know who my dad is”
She sighed as she closed her book and set it aside. She slowly took off her glasses and patted the couch signaling that I sit next to her.
“I have kept this a secret for your own good” She looked me deep in the eye trying to scare me out of it but I wasn’t.
I want to know why everyone has a father to care for them except for me. I have no memory of him, all I have is pictures and pictures are not enough anymore.
“When you were first born your father and I used to fight a lot. Mostly because we were young and we were scared”
“So this is my fault” I interrupted her as she shut her eyes
“No” Her hand reached for mine as she traced her fingers on my palm trying to comfort me.
“Your father had an affair with a hooker, a prostitute, a stripper whatever you want to call her” A tear slipped from her eyes as she started playing with her fingertips.
“So you left him?” I exclaimed and she shook her head no.
“She got pregnant” Another tear slipped from her other eye
“So, that’s when you left him?”
“God damn it Samantha, He left because he felt obligated to be there for the baby” She stood up yelling “He left you and I because he felt that he belonged with her and the newborn”
Tears streamed down her face but this time they were streaming from mine too. I tried to pull it together so she won’t say it. The one word I hated most “I told you so”
“This is exactly why I never told you because I never wanted you to feel bad about yourself since he picked a prostitute over you”
“Geez mom, I wasn’t thinking about it but thank you for reminding me”
She turned the other way as her hands reached her cheeks. She wiped away the tears using her sleeves before she turned my way again
“I love you honey. I know this sucks like hell”
“No mom” I stood up as I pulled her in for a hug “I couldn’t care less about him”
I kissed her cheeks before finally heading to my room “If he doesn’t care about me then why should I?”
*END OF FLASHBACK!”
“Hey” My best friend Julia waved from her bedroom window. My mother and I waved back as she motioned that she’s coming downstairs.
Julia was one of my best friends; actually she’s my only friend. period. She had long brown hair and a petite body. EVERYTHING looked good on here. She loved to dress up and put make up on people. More like on me. Our mothers are best friends as well, which made things a lot easier.
“Hey miss Silver” She gave my mom a kiss as she walked my way
“Your mother’s inside?” My mom asked before she headed inside.
Julia nodded as we looked at my mother walk inside.
“Any plans for tomorrow?” She asked while kicking stones off the floor.
“Nope” I sat on the side walk “Why?”
I knew there was a reason why she was asking that particular question.
“Well” She took in a deep breath “There’s this concert for a boy band tomorrow and YOU HAVE to come”
“Julia” I complained “You know how much I hate boybands”
“I know” She sighed “But I need someone to go with me and that someone is you”
She sat next to me while trying to master that puppy face of hers.
“Julia” I complained, AGAIN.
I hated boy bands and concerts. I’ve been to a concert before and it was not fun. I came home with a headache that lasted for days.
“Please Please Please Please” She jumped up and down begging for my yes.
“Julia, you’re making a scene”
“I don’t care, please comeeeee” She jumped like a little 5 year old on Halloween.
“Fine” I got up as I dusted off my butt “You owe me big time”
“I know I know. Oh my god, THANK YOU” She squeaked as she give me a big hug.
“So there are 4 of them and they are called Union J. One of them is literally gay but so cute. Another is like slow but adorable, that one is my husband” she winked “The youngest has amazing fluffy curly hair, just not too curly. The last one is romantic and cute and oh my god you’re going to love them”
I just looked at her go on and on about this “boy band”. I think you refer to her actions right now as “fangirling”? She does that a lot.
“I didn’t sign up for a biography, you know” I grinned as she instantly flew her hands over her mouth.
“Sorry” She mouthed as she went back inside jumping up and down.
“What was that for?” My mother asked as we walked back home
“We’re going to concert” As I said that she lightly laughed because she knew what Julia was like.
Well, so I’m going to a concert tomorrow and get my ears pierced. Lucky me ha?
