A middle-aged woman, probably in her early 40s, walked slowly down the street, a black umbrella inhand and a small black spaghetti-strap purse hanging off the other should. Her black hair shined like that of a young woman and her green eyes were bright like fresh cut jewels. A steady rain had been falling since last night and didn't seem close to letting up. The woman wore a plain black dress that went to her knees, a long-sleeved black jacket, black panty-hoes, and black dress shoes, nothing name-brand. She is heading toward a cross=walk, where a man, with messy brown hair and a dishevelled suit, stood. His wet, sticky hair was starting o turn gray near the temples and must have beaan at least 45, he had bits of stubble forming on his chin. She went and stood next to him, "Excuse me do you know where the train station is?" The man turns to her, "Yeah, it's just a couple blocks from here, I'm actually headed there myself."

Kimberly's POV

My damned alarm clock made its usual ringing noise. I didn't feel like getting up today, I was tired and cranky, because Rebecca had kept me up all night. She had been crying hysterically becuase her boyfriend of 2 years had passed away. "Francis," I quietly sad aloud. If only she had knwn who, or what he was. I stood and headed for my bedroom door. I turned left down the hall and went to the guest romm, where Rebecca had been staying. She was curled up in a ball, snoring softly. I sighed and left, going straight to the kitchen. I made pancakes, eggs, bacon, black coffee for me and earl gray tea for Rebecca witha tablespoon of honey and a bit of sugar. I turn away from the stove to grab milf from the fridge, when I do I see Rebecca standing at the doorway staring at me. "Why didn't you wake me," she asks rubbing her eyes. I thought for a moment, "You looked realy tired and I thought you should sleep. And look! I made breakfast and earl gray tea, your favorite!" I say smiling brightly. She looked sad, she had a frown and her eyes seemed empty, "How the hell can you act like nothing happened?" Because I'm a sociopath, not that I didn't love Franics, but I warned him! I told him to be carful, but he wasn't! If I could go back in time and force him to stay I would, but I can't! Oh, and also I don't really care about you, neither did he! We were just using you,now get out of my apartment and my life! Thats what I wanted to say, well more like scream, but I didn't; I just stayed quiet and stared at Rebecca. "You know what?" No actually I don't; I don't read minds, I thought angerly. "I didn't really expect you to answer." Really and why that? I bet you're going to tell me, I fumed inside my head. "I mean whenever I ask you about your feelings, you never answer, you just stay quiet," Rebecca practically yells. I answer with one word, "EAT."

Kimberly's POV

I followed the man across the street. "So, what's your name?" I asked. "Hmm? I-It's Arnold. And you?" He replied half-heartedly. "Kimberly... You have a fun night, or something?" I teased. "What? No, it was actually pretty crappy, but you probably don't want to hear about it." He said with a light chuckle. "If you wanna talk, I'll listen." He smiled a bit and said, "Well, it's not a long story, but it's pretty pathetic. I was getting ready to get married to this beautiful blond, she was nice and sweet. Everything a man could dream of having, but her dad was kinda an ass. When we, well her, told her dad we engaged, he kinda freaked out. He told her that if she got married to me she would get nothing in the will. That isn't what pushed her out of it though. Her dad ended up passing away and to honor him she decided to do as he wished and not marry me. So I has a pretty regretful night witha girl from a bar." "Well, damn. It's worse than I thought." I giggled, "Here we are." I pointed to the train station sign. "I guess this is goodbye, thanks for listening," Arnold said a bit happier than earlier. "You want a phone number, in case you want to try and move on?" I mentioned before he turned away. "Sure. I mean, why not?" He shrugged. I opened my purse and fished through looking for a pen and paper. I scribbled a number on an old receipt and handed it to Arnold. "Just call mw whenever. I've gotta go." I waved off smiling.

March 12, 2012; 9:34 A.M. Kimberly's POV

"Come on, if you don't hurry up we're going to miss the train," I yelled down the hall to Rebecca. She came out of the guest room wearing a black knee length skirk with black panty hoes, black dress shoes, and a white dress shirt tucked under a black button up sweater. I went to the closet and grabbed two umbrellas and handed one to Rebecca. "Let's go," I say smiling, "It's going to be alright." She nodded and headed for the door.

I had called a cab ahead of time, so it was outside on the street waiting for us. I open the door closest to the sidewalk and help Rebecca in, then I headed to the opposite side of the cab and got in. "Where to?" the cabbie say in a rough voice. "The train station," I reply quickly.

I catch Rebecca staring at me, I smileand look over, "What's wrong?" "Do I have to go? I really don't want to," she says shakily. "It's going to be fine. Just going to be a quick godbye, then we can leave." "Ok," she speaks softly.

We make it to the train on time and board. It takes about an hour to make it out of the county. We then leave the train station and get into another cab. "Where are you two headed?" "Birch Hill Cemetery," I spoke quietly. On the ride there, silence consumed the two of us. The cab finally pulled onto a long drive, he stopped at a small group of people. "I assume this is it?" Seeing as they were the only ones to be seen. "Yeah," I say handing him his money.

Both Rebecca and I stepped out of the cab. I lead Rebecca to the clearing where the body of her boyfriend laid in a coffin. Her brother came up to her first, hugging her. Stan I believe his name is. He lets go and grabs her shoulders, "I'm so sorry about Francis, Becky. Are you doing alright? Maybe you need something?" "I'll be fine Sean. And it's good to see you again." I stood awkwardly behins Rebecca, thinking about how I barely know these people, I mean I genuinely thought his name was Stan. "I'm going to go see mom and dad Sean." "Ok, if you need anything, just, just call." Their voices tugged me back into the real world away from my thoughts. I looked for Rebecca and found her already walked towards her parents. I speed walked to catch up. Her parents, Mary and Bill embraced their daughter. Mary had been crying, with a hankerchief still being dabbed at her already dry face. I smiled gingerly at her father. He was a policemen and had done a throrough background check on me, let's just say he isn't too happy with me hanging around his daughter. They gave their apologies and what not, then we headed over to sit down at the chairs placed in front of the grave.

A friend of Rebecca sat on one sdie of her and me on the other. The man standing up looked like a priest, but I knew he was not. He was a friend of Francis and me, so I asked him to do the "honors". He talked about things you woud normally hear at a burial and when he finished Francis's coffin was lowered into the ground. The "priest" was looking at me with a odd kind of look on his face, I looked back and gave him a small smile and nod. "Let's go," I whisper to Rebecca. SHe nods and then stands slowly making her way to the drive. I reach for my phone and find that I had forgotten it.

"Do you have your phone Becky?" I didn't get an answer, so I turned to look where Rebecca had been standing. I found that Rebecca had started walking down the paved path toward the road. I have to run to catch up to catch up. I grab her arm and she yanks away. "What's the matter?" "NOthing, I just want to be alone." " I think you should come back with me; I don't want you to get hurt." "I'll be fine; Sean is driving me back to your apartment, so I can get what I left there, then I'm going to be staying with him." "Could I borrow your ohone then, I think I left mine at home." "I don't have it with me." "Oh, well then do you think your brother would mind goiving me a ride back to the train station or if you're heading to my apartm- "There won't be any room in his car."

Ok, then. Guess I'm walking in the rain. Her brother pulled his car up and Rebecca got in, without so much as a goodbye, they drove off.

I boarded the train and took a seat next to a window. As the train started to move, the soft rumbling lolled me to sleep.
