Derek spent the weekend trying to figure out how to approach the student or even whether or not he should approach him. When he headed to campus on Monday morning, he was a ball of nervous energy and kept his ears perked for any sign of the guy. No matter how hard he listened, he couldn't find him and therefore, he didn't see him until he was walking to class.
Derek felt his breath catch as the student walked into the lecture hall. It was the first time he had taken the time to give him a once over and he realized he had been missing out. The guy had dark hair like chocolate curls, whiskey amber eyes almost like melted gold, pink cupid's bow lips like rose petals, moles scattered across his face in the shape of the Orion's Belt constellation. Even though he wasn't covered with muscle, his body was firm, and lithe. Derek found himself wanting to worship every inch of the body he was now drooling over. How had he missed the beauty of this guy?

Stiles took a seat and slouched immediately as he turned his attention to the board long enough to pretend that he was paying attention before his focus shifted to Derek. He wondered to himself how Derek had the right to be so hot and he wanted him but not just because he was gorgeous. Stiles took his time admiring the guy like he usually did, staring at his shoes but what he didn't expect was to actually lock eyes with him. Stiles froze like a deer in the headlights and swallowed thickly but the man gave a tilt of his head with an eyebrow quirk that had Stiles looking anywhere else.

Derek watched as the student gave him a once over and wondered if he did this every time, but that question was easily answered when Stiles froze his eyes widening in shock that he'd been caught. Derek was surprised at how much he didn't mind but his attempt to convey that ended with the student turning his attention elsewhere which made Derek frown slightly. He looked back down at his papers and went back to grading.
When the lecture was over Stiles grabbed his bag and made for the door, but Derek watched a girl with light brown hair snag the guy's hand and drag him out of the lecture hall. She had a huge grin on her face, her eyes meeting Derek's for a brief moment before they disappeared from view. Derek hated the way his stomach twisted with jealousy and looked down at the papers again. He sighed as the girl led Stiles out of the classroom, their fingers interlocked and told himself that was why he never tried to show interest in anyone.
After trying to focus on the papers and frustratingly making zero progress on them, Derek gathered his things, handed the professor the graded assignments and headed into the hallway a good fifteen minutes after the lecture ended. He turned to his left and started walking towards the coffee shop but stopped when he heard two voices arguing in hushed whispers.
"Malia, I love you but what was that?" Stiles asked, frowning as he crossed his arms.
"What do you mean? You told me we could touch when I need to." She looked down and Stiles sighed, his voice softening.
"I know that but why did you do it there specifically?"
Malia looked up at Stiles and cleared her throat. "Well, I thought maybe making him jealous would help."
Stiles's jaw dropped. "Who? Derek?" Stiles squeaked out.
Derek found the sound endearing, and preened at the fact that Stiles knew his name.
Then, Malia spoke. "No. Professor Levi."
Stiles's expression was one of abject horror. "What?!"
The horrified look had Malia doubling over in laughter even as she rolled her eyes. "Yes, Derek. Usually making people jealous works."
