The stands that stood outside the lacrosse field were already packed by the time I pulled into the parking lot. Beacon Hills treated lacrosse like most schools treated football. While school spirit wasn't coursing through my veins at the moment, having found out that three of my friends were officially leaving, I had still promised Scott and Stiles that I would attend the championship game. I had even talked Maggie, who was really more of a basketball fan, to come and offer her support.
Walking over to the bleachers I saw that Maggie was already sitting with Melissa and Sheriff Stilinski. When I got there, I heard Ms. McCall telling the other two that Scott had been benched for the game due to his grades. It didn't escape my notice that when she said this her eyes narrowed, not at her son who was failing three classes but at Gerard. Turning on my heels I rushed over to the bench to talk to Scott and Stiles who were already in their own conversation.
"It's gonna be bad, isn't it?" Stiles worried voice reached my ears as I grew closer. "Like scream, blood, killing, maiming kind of bad?"
"Looks like it." Scott sighed.
"Scott, the other night seeing my dad get hit over the head by Matt while I couldn't even move. I want to help you know but I can't do the things you can do."
"It's okay." Scott assured him.
"You help in other ways." I told him, placing my hand on his padded shoulder.
"When did you get here?" Stiles asked, looking back up at me.
"Just now."
"Have you heard from Allison or Lydia?" Scott asked.
"I talked to Lydia earlier but I haven't really spoken to Allison in a few days. She won't answer my text."
"Ours either." Scott sighed, burring his face in his hands.
"This is just getting better and better. Gerard has Jackson, Allison won't talk to us." Stiles sighed.
"Wait! What?" I asked, whipping my head to look between the two of them. "Gerard has Jackson?"
"Yeah, I just found out." Scott informed me
"We're losing, Dude." Stiles shook his head looking over to Scott
"What the hell are you talking about?" Coach butted in. "The game hasn't even started yet." His eyes fixed on me, narrowing in confusion. "What are you doing here Daniels?"
"Oh uh..." Looked down at Scott and Stiles for assistance but they were absolutely useless. "I uh...Scott! H-He uh... He told me that you had wanted him to talk to me about cross country."
"Yeah, I did." Coach grinned.
"I wanted to tell him...and-and you... that I thought about and decided that I'd do it."
"You will?" Scott, Stiles, and Coach all said in unison.
"Absolutely." I smiled.
Coach did a silent cheer before turning to Scott. "Good job McCall. You might just pass my class after all."
Scott grinned up at me and I returned his with a smile and a small wink of my own.
"Amazing! Good!" Coach smiled happily. "Now Stilinski put on your helmet you're in for Greenberg."
"What? What happened to Greenberg?" Stiles looked around like he was ready to see Greenberg lying on the field in pain.
"What happened is he sucks and you suck slightly less." Coach explained.
"I'm playing? On the field? With the team?" Stiles asked, as I drummed on his shoulder excitedly.
"Yes. Unless you'd rather play with yourself." Coach laughed.
