A/N: I updated but I dislike this part and I have absolutely no idea how to continue it okay alright
As Matt walked into his apartment that morning, grinning like a fool, he decided he was going to take a shower. Adjusting the temperature, he hopped into the warm steam and relaxed for a second. Once he was done, he turned the faucet off and wrapped a towel around his waist, not bothering to get dressed for the buzzer begun to ring. Matt rushed over to the intercom.
“H-hello?” He stammered.
“Matt, it’s Josh. Can I come up?” His voice crackled through the speakers.
“Sure!” Matt pressed the ‘release door’ button and Josh hung up. Matt headed to his bedroom and pulled on clean underwear and then his jeans. He didn’t even have time to throw a fresh shirt on because Josh was now at the door.
Josh waited patiently outside Matt’s apartment, taking in the scent of magnolia paint and patiently staring at the gold numbers on the door. Soon enough, Matt pulled the door open, and Josh did everything he could to stop his jaw dropping open. Matt was still shirtless, and my god, that boy is beautiful. He let his eyes linger on the guitarist’s perfectly toned stomach for a few seconds before coughing awkwardly.
“Hey, Josh. Come in!” Matt said, stepping aside to let the singer past. Josh took in the surroundings as Matt rummaged through a chest of drawers to find a shirt. The place was really clean and organised, despite it being tiny and a little cramped. It was literally a tiny living room that Josh guessed served as a bedroom as well, a basic kitchen with a counter that served as a dining table and Josh could see an open door that lead to the bathroom. By the looks of it, Matt had done everything he could to make the place homely; hanging up pictures of him and his family, singers he obviously liked, and Josh was pretty sure he recognised some of his favourite singers on the walls as well. He’d thrown blankets and pillows all over the sofa, but that was probably because it served as a bed too. Josh watched quietly as Matt slipped a shirt over his head.
“Oh, uh, here’s your sweater. Sorry about that.” Josh laughed. Matt took the sweater and folded it into a square, before placing it in the drawers.
“It’s fine. It was early, after all. Did you want a drink or anything?” Matt said, smiling at Josh.
“That would be awesome. Do you have coffee?”
Matt nodded and headed to the kitchen, leaving Josh to peer at the photos hanging on the walls. Matt looked a lot like his dad, but he’d got his brown eyes from his mother.
Matt was leaning against the kitchen counter, watching as Josh looked around his apartment. He was snapped back to reality by the sound of the kettle finishing boiling, and he headed over to get two mugs out of the cupboard.
“It’s cute here. Cosy.” Josh commented, taking a couple of steps closer to Matt and watching as he stirred a teaspoon in the coffee. Matt smiled.
“It’s tiny, but it’s what I can afford right now. I’d like something bigger, but that’s not possible.” He set the coffee in front of Josh and smiled. “You didn’t want milk in it, did you?”
“No thank you, it tastes better like this.” Josh took a sip of his drink and slid into one of the barstools at the kitchen counter. “I like it here. Having a bigger place and living on your own gets lonely sometimes. That’s why I got the cats.”
“What are they called?”
“Tux and Anenomie. Right bitches. But I love them.” Josh wrapped his hands around his coffee like he’d done earlier that morning. Matt smiled again. He noticed how bony Josh’s hands were; but he didn’t comment, focusing more on biting his lip to avoid blurting out something embarrassing. Matt was awful at making comments when unnecessary, and usually personal. He couldn’t help it; it was just the way he was.
