THE THIRTY-MINUTE car ride to school was silent the whole way. Aside from Happy trying to make conversation here and there.

When we get there, I grab my bag and get out as fast as I can without raising suspicion from Happy. I guess I wasn't fast enough because surely, there's Pietro, by my side.

When we get to the entrance of the school, I grab Pietro's collar to his shirt and pull him towards me.

"Listen, you cannot tell anyone what you told me this morning. I don't even know what could possibly make you think that I'm an addict, but I'm not."

"Okay, whatever you say Kaia, just remember, I'm faster than you think," he said, and then opened the door so we could go inside.

We stepped inside which made me realize that I forgot how crowded it was.

We go our separate ways as we try to navigate the school. Him, the office, me, my homeroom.

What's that supposed to mean?  "I'm faster than you think?" Is that his way of saying he...

And then it hit me.

Fuck.

He has superspeed. He can probably go faster than the human eye can see. He probably saw me take my meds. That's why he gave me that look this morning.

Lost in my own thoughts, I realized I had no idea where I was going. I grab my map from my backpack's side pocket to look for my homeroom.

After I located it, the map was suddenly snatched from my hands.

"Kaia, your back!" Flash said.

"Yes, unfortunately." I said as I started walking in the direction of my class.

"How've you been?"

Did he seriously just ask me how I've been? for all, he knows I've been in recovery from a rib fracture.

"I'm fine I guess. Considering all that's happened"

"Did you know that I met spiderman that day? It was the coolest thing, he's so cool. Now that he's got that new suit."

"Wow, crazy. Well, here's my class. I'll catch you later Flash." I said as I made my way towards my classroom door.

"Okay catch you later." He said as he pulled me into a side hug.

I walk in and sit down. My teacher notices my return and walks over to my desk.

"Welcome back Kaia! So glad you're better. We did do a new seating arrangement but I made a new one last night just to spice things up a little."

Great. Just when it seems that Parker kid isn't in this class anymore, he runs in as the late bell rings.

"Morning ma'am" he says as he sits down a few rows ahead of me.

"Alright class, I created a new seating arrangement so if you'll look at the screen, you'll find your new spot."

I hear groans and sounds of complaints come from different parts of the room.
