Bystander:
You may not be saying anything. You may not be the one who's physically hurting that kid in the hallways.
But you are that kid that always sees it all go down, and that's just as bad as bullying.
You're the kid that saw it all, yet refuses to say anything. You're the kid who actually thinks that things will die down after this.
But they won't. They won't, and they'll keep going. It'll keep going and going and going and going and it's gonna keep going. It's a routine now, it'll happen for the longest time.
And for the one being bullied, two weeks can feel like forever.
There are a few ways that you can make yourself a bystander, which isn't a good title to hold.
One: You can just keep your mouth shut as you see it all go down, and you won't even help.
That's a bystander.
Two: You can be that kid in the crowd of other kids watching everything and kinda laying back and thinking, "Sure am glad that boy/girl ain't me."
You pretty much made yourself a bully. Consider the feelings of others.
Three: Your friend is the bully. You stand there. You don't say anything colorful. You don't harm him in any way, but you could do something. You could tell your friend to stop.
Don't be the bystander.
