5 seconds of family

Chapter 1

Ashleigh's POV

I was awoken from my deep sleep to the sound of my 6 month old baby Ronan screaming the house down and two 4 year olds jumping up and down on my bed. I rolled over looking for Michael but he was already up and seeing to Ronan and trying to give her some comfort. Mathew and Violet were really energetic trying to pull me up of the bed so that I would go an make them breakfast.

" Okay babies I'm up now what do you want for breakfast"

Mathew and Violet both ran out me and Michael's room and down to the kitchen. By the time I got there Mathew was pulling up a chair raiding the cupboard.

" Mathew what are you looking for?" I asked. He just turned around with a cheeky grin and got down of the chair and ran up to me.

"Mummy can you please make us pancakes." he asked so sweetly and pouted his lip knowing that I give in when he does that.

" Fine Mathew I'll make you pancakes since you know that I can't resist your pouty face" Mathew gave me a massive hug and a kiss on the lips because he was really happy that he was getting pancakes.

When I was in the middle of flipping the pancakes I felt two strong arms engulf me in a hug. I instantly knew that they were Michael's so I naturally relaxed into them.

Michael's POV

I was upstairs settling my baby Ronan because she was up all night with a sore belly and couldn't sleep. I could smell something so good from down the stairs that it was making my mouth water. I managed to settle Ronan and get her to go back to sleep by rocking her in my arms. I gently placed her back in her Moses basket and went down the stairs so that I could see my beautiful wife Ashleigh.

When I got to the kitchen Ashleigh was standing with her back facing me flipping pancakes. I wrapped my arms around her and she instantly relaxed into me.

"Hey babe those pancakes smell amazing I cant wait to eat them I'm starved."

"Well good. I think I might have made too much batter." She giggled. I let go of her and joined two of my children at the table.

"Hi daddy!" Violet smiled and ran up to hug me. I picked her up and sat her on my knees.

"Hi princess! What have you been doing this morning?" She looked up at me with her big emerald eyes.

"Um, I was playing with my princess dollies and then Mathew came through and said to wake momma up!"

"Why did you think you should wake up your mum?" I raised an eyebrow, looking at Mathew.

"Because I got hungry." He had a cheeky smile on his face. Ashleigh walked over to the table carrying a plate of freshly cooked pancakes. She placed them down on the table and started serving them out. Violet got off my knee and sat back down at her seat.

Everyone sat around the table stuffing their faces full of Ashleigh's homemade pancakes and making light conversation.

"Guys are you excited for going to see your uncles and cousins" Ashleigh asked the kids with excitement laced in her voice.

"Yeh mummy I can't wait to see my best friend Finley" Violet said while jumping up and down in her seat.

"Awwwww you wee cutie, are you and Finley going to be best friends for ever Violet." I asked her.

"Yes daddy." Violet said with a high pitched voice and her cheeks turning red.

"Okay, come on let's get ready  to go now so that you can spend ages with your friends. i I said to them. Which caused them to jump off their chairs and race each other up the stairs.

"We have such adorable kids Ashleigh" I said while Ashleigh started to walk up the stairs to get Ronan ready.
