My Enemy's Confession

Someone

Korn and Wai were busy preparing a proposal for a new client. They were trying to pitch in an ecofriendly Busstop prototype, which was an advanced form of the one that they had developed during their college days. They worked day and night to get all details right. Finally the day of presentation has come and they were waiting outside the conference feeling nervous as well as excited.

Korn: Ready?

Wai: Hmm

Korn quickly gave Wai a hug and knocked on the conference room door.

"Please come in."

As they entered the room, they were surprised to see a girl around their age leading the meeting.

Korn: Good morning. I am Korn, the chief engineer and this Wai, the chief architect.

Unknown: Good morning. I am Prim, CEO of ANC Builders. Please proceed with the presentation.

Wai starts with the presentation and everyone in the room except one person was listening to Wai. Prim's eyes were busy watching Korn. Wai was getting distracted during the presentation because of the staring contest between Korn and Prim. Wai somehow managed to finish the presentation and go back to his seat. Korn looks at Wai with a smile but he just turned his face away from him. Korn frowned on seeing Wai's reaction. 

Korn: Wai..

Prim: Mr.Korn, we will be going through your project in detail and then contact you with an update.

Korn: Ok.

They shook hands with each other and decided to meet again once they come to a decision. Prim completely ignored Wai who was standing next to Korn. Wai collected his laptop and walked out of the conference room. Korn said goodbye to Prim and ran behind Wai.

Korn: Wai...Wai

Wai stops walking and looks at Korn.

Korn: Where are you going in a hurry? We are supposed to go for lunch with Pat.

Wai: I am sorry. I cannot come with you for lunch. I have something urgent to do. Please apologize to Pat on my behalf.

Korn: But

Wai just walks away without listening to Korn.

Korn: What the hell is wrong with this guy? He was so happy and cheerful in the morning. What happened to his mood suddenly?

Korn was standing there lost in his thoughts when he heard someone calling his name.

"Korn"

Korn turns around to see Prim standing behind him smiling at him.

Korn: Hello Mam

Prim: Please call me Prim.

Korn: How can I help you Prim?

Prim: I just wanted to say that I am impressed with your presentation.

Korn: Thank you. It is a joint effort. My partner worked really hard on the presentation.

Prim: Yes. Actually I had some doubts regarding the project and decided to discuss it with you.  If you are free today, we can meet for dinner.

Korn: But my partner just left.

Prim: Well, I was hoping we can finish this today because I have a meeting with my board of directors tomorrow. If we get all the points clarified today, theh I can present it before them tomorrow.

Korn: Okay. I will meet you tonight for dinner. We can take it from there.

Prim: Great. See you later. Bye.

Korn: Bye

After leaving the company, Korn tried to call Wai many times but he did not answer the call. When he reached home, Wai was not there. Finally he decided to leave a voicemail for Wai. He also informed Pat that he won't be able to meet him for dinner. He then changed into something formal as the dinner was at a posh restaurant.

While Korn was getting ready for dinner, Wai was roaming around in the city as he didn't want to meet Korn as yet. He knew he was being unreasonable as Korn is his friend, who is single. He has all the right to be with whoever he want to be with. In his heart Wai knew why he was upset but he didn't want to say it out loud. He just wanted to stay away from Korn for some time. As he was walking lost in his thoughts, he hit someone's body.

Wai: I am so sorry Sir. I..

"Wai"

"Pat"

Pat: What are you doing here Wai? I thought you had something urgent to do.

Wai: Yeah. I just finished that work. By the way, where is Korn?

Pat: Oh, he didn't call you. He said he is going for dinner with a client.

Wai(in mind): So that's where he is. Isn't it too fast Korn.

"Wai..Wai.."

Wai: I am sorry Pat. I am a bit preoccupied. Can we talk later.

Pat: Sure. I will call you once Pran reaches Thailand.

Wai: Great. Bye. See you later.

Meanwhile Korn has already reached the hotel and was waiting for Prim. Soon he see her walking towards their table. He was shocked to see her look.

Prim: I am sorry. Got stuck in the traffic.

Korn: It's okay. Please sit down.

Prim: Thanks

Korn was still staring at her.

Prim: Do I look odd?

Korn: No. You are beautiful.

Prim blushes on hearing Korn's comments.

Prim: Thanks

They discuss the project over dinner. They also talk about each other and their interests. Soon the dinner is over and they decide to leave the restaurant.

Prim: I had a great time talking with you Korn.

Korn: Same here.

Prim: I will let you about the project soon.

Korn: Okay. Bye

Prim: Bye

She kisses his cheek and leaves for her car. Korn stands there stunned. After some time he also leave for his apartment.

Korn reaches his apartment and opens the door but there was complete darkness inside.

Korn: Wai..Wai

No answer.

Korn walks into Wai's bedroom and he was on his bed sleeping. Korn decided not to disturb him and went back to his room. He quickly changed his clothes and went to sleep.

Wai was awake when Korn came home but he pretended to be asleep. He didn't want to face Korn. So closed his eyes tight and pretended to sleep when Korn entered his room. Tears started to flow from his eyes as Korn left his room. He tried to wipe his tears but it kept flowing. He pressed his face into his pillow and cried his heart out. Finally he felt a bit relieved after crying.

Wai: I need to be strong. I cannot let my emotions destroy my friendship with Korn. I need to maintain a distance with him until I sort out my feelings.

Wai went to sleep determined to set everything right.
