Chapter Eight

"How do you like the sky at night, Rei?" She asked in the middle of our walk.

I sat at the pure white sand of the beach and she followed.

"Simple... Full moon with its stars around it and also with the clouds." I smiled.

"The moon is beautiful... isn't it?" Liz asked.

I laughed, "It is, Liz. It is."

I know that ofcourse and she knows I know that since we saw a conversation like that before and even made fun of it.

"The sky felt empty... the moon isn't there." I said.

"Tinanan ni Sol." Liz laughed.

"Roleplay natin." Pagaya ko.

"Huh? Ang ano?"

"Wala, wala!" I said.

"I have a question, Rei."

I looked at her.

"When is your next chemotheraphy?"

"I don't take chemo sessions anymore, Liz."

She looked at me, worriedly.

"What? Why?"

"I don't want it. Chemos hurts me."

"But you'll be healed by that.."

"There's no assurance I'll heal.. And you know what? I don't want to live anymore but when you confessed.. I starts to like to live." I smiled.

"Don't worry, I'll schedule mine. I'll go to the doctor when I have a freetime."

"Just don't go to univ tomorrow.. Take a checkup or I'll go with you. I'll talk to Pres, for sure she'll understand."

"No, and intramurals will end soon.. for sure after that before we went home to Vigan I can get check."

"I'll go with you, Rei."

"Kahit ano pang sakit ang maramdaman ko at nararamdaman mo."

"You're giving me butterflies again." I laughed.

She clings her arms into mine.

"Dapat lang, ano!"

After a while... nag-aya na akong umuwi.

"Uwi na tayo." I lend her my hand that she immediately accepted.

"Aren't you feeling cold?" She asked.

"I am... but if felt good though. I'm actually enjoying it!"

I was about to interwined our hands together when she transferred a thing in her other hand.

I laughed, "What's that?"

She let me see it.

"Taser." She smiled.

"Why do you have that?" I asked.

"For safety purposes!" She answered.

"I can fight naman. For your information, I studied self defense and learned how to hold a gun!"

"You want to go shoot when we're free?"

I looked at her teasingly. "You want to go on a date, Jiwon?!!"

"Yeah..."

"Oh, you're blushing, Jiwon! How cute!~"

"Rei, don't tease!" She said covering her ears and walking straight lefting me in the spot.

I clinged my arms on her.

"Fine, I would love to go on a shooting range!"

"I don't know how to shoot a gun though. You need to teach me."

"Sure, Love!" I answered.

"You're back at teasing me again, Rei!" She covered her face after she I let go of her arms.

I came towards her.

"You know I love you for a long time already, Jiwon? Right?"

"Hmmm... what's with it?"

"You have the assurance that I'll be with you, Liz. So please wait for my heart to get ready."

"Sure, I can! You know I love you too, right?" She asked me back.

I nodded.

"You have the assurance that my loyalty is only for you too, Rei." She smiled.

"So if ever anything happens please listen to my side." She added.

I'm not dumb. I know everything.

"Sure, I will." I assured her.

She's coming back soon and she'll surely steal you away from me again, Liz.

I don't want that and I won't let her steal you from me.

I'm just waiting for them to tell me. I know everything why don't tell me and what they're doing. I understand their sides. It's for me..

Sometimes, I even questioned myself if it's even worth it to hide those from me. Well infact in anytime I could just disappear.

I hope to live long for you, Liz. But if the world won't let me.. maybe in another lifetime we met.. tayo na talaga dun. Walang tutol.. pero yun yung buhay eh. Every lifetime it's hard you don't even know if in another lifetime it would be easier or harder for the both of you.

I don't want to give us up, give you up.. But if the world just gave up on us maybe we're just meant to met but not meant to be for eachother.

I still have hope though.. and that hope will make me believe that we're meant to eachother.

She just remained clinging in my arms until we reached the dorm.

"Let's make smores na kaya?" I asked.

She nodded.

We prepared all the ingredients and starts putting the chocolates below and marshmallows at the top.

We baked it in the oven and while waiting we're making more.

Irereheat na lang namin pag may bumili na sa booth tomorrow.

"Ang dumi na ng damit mo, Liz. Baby ka pa ba?" I asked.

She looked at her shirt that has chocolates then looked at me and replied,

"Yeah, baby mo."

I rolled my eyes.

Nagsisimula na naman siya eh.

The oven rang so I opened and get the smores out.

"Last batch na to?" She asked.

I nodded.

"Kuha tayong anim tig-iisa tayo!" She said.

I laughed. "Go lang."

Liz is cute.
