Amelie wondered around her bedroom looking for her ceremonial broach she wore on special occasions. She and Lucian were getting ready to have a formal meeting with the rest of the pack regarding their most recent plans to join sides with different Vampire covens that were willing to end the feud between their species. She was very nervous about this meeting for two reasons; One, they could reject their plans (which are already in play) and start an uprising that would end in someone challenging Lucian for the Alpha position. And Two, they could decide to leave the pack, especially since this decision was only made between herself and Lucian. Their intentions were for the greater good, and if they have more Vampires on their side, they have a better chance of fighting off enemies who don't wish to share in their hospitality.
She checked her 8-drawer jewelry case and found it hiding amongst the copious amount of friendship bracelets and shell necklaces her children made for her over the years. She took so much pride in her little collection because no one else would ever be able to replicate the handiwork of the most important people in her life.
Lucian came over and helped her pin it to her flowing white dress, taking in the sight of his beautiful wife. She blushed under his gaze and rubbed her belly a bit, hoping for the best. "So, are you ready for this? Baptiste said their flight landed nearly 30 minutes ago, so they should be arriving momentarily." He said, caressing her cheek. She took a deep breath and nodded.
"I'm not sure I even have a choice but to be ready, Amour." She took his hand and allowed him to lead her downstairs to the main hall where the pack had gathered to hear what their Alpha and Luna had to say. They all seemed so eager and nervous.
"Good Afternoon, everyone. Your Luna and I have a very important announcement to make." Lucian began. "In just a few moments, our world is about to shift. Luna Amelie and I have made a decision that we believe will be for the greater good of this pack, and we have invited the head of the Saint Raziel Vampire Coven to meet with us and discuss a treaty to join forces against enemies who only want bloodshed and war; both Vampires and Wolves alike."
He was met with murmurs in the crowd. There was a mixture of frustration, wonder, and even some fear here and there. They were scared and not really sure what to think of the situation. "Alpha! If I may?" Tammie, one of the omega women who looked after the young wolves asked. Lucian gave her a nod of approval.
"How do we know we can trust these covens? No offense to Casedy, she's my favorite student. But She's not like them. She's a good girl and...Im worried they might corrupt her." She said, her voice shaking the entire time. Tammie was like a teacher for all of the young wolves. She nannied most of them while their parents worked or hunted, so she was very well known by most of the youth in the pack, including Casedy. They could trust her to not start an uprising, Lucian thought.
"We understand the concern," Amelie began, "But we assure you that there is nothing to worry about. We have been talking with this coven for quite some time now and they mean us no harm. Their main priority is the protection of their lineage. The Saint Raziel Coven are our friends, and also the coven that Casedy's birth mother is from."
This shocked the rest of the crowd. They had never really spoken about Casedy's position in the pack since her 8th birthday when she was almost killed by two misguided and jealous young wolves. After they were dealt with, no one else in the pack dared question the young vampire or her legitimacy to the Blood Moon name. If anything, the packs views on Casedy shifted tremendously and they began to accept her for who she was; a child born into a world that would reject her if she wasn't given the opportunity to be loved properly by a pack who loves her.
Just then, a notification from Amelie's cellphone halted her speech. She looked down to see a notification from Baptiste. They were currently waiting outside in their Uber. She cleared her throat and turned her attention back to the crowd.
"We apologize for the inconvenience, but the leader of the Saint Raziel pack is here and your Alpha and I have business to attend to. We want all of you to understand that we are taking your safety into consideration and what we ultimately decide will be for the good of the pack." They all responded with more mummers and whispers, but evidently seemed to agree with their Luna. She gave them one last smile before turning to Lucian, taking his hand and leading him to the front of the house to greet their guests.

Casedy watched from the window in the living room as a big black suburban rolled into the driveway. She had talked with her parents the night before about the guests they were expecting, and she was still not ready. A beautiful young woman with short copper hair exited the car first. She looked around the yard and then directly at the window Casedy was peeking from. Her eyes were the color of molten gold, filled with a kind of longing. She gave Casedy a small wave before heading towards the trunk. The next person to exit the car was a middle aged looking man with long, neatly kept dreads. His skin was dark like midnight and he also shared the same eyes color as the girl she had seen before.
Her body felt weak as he began to approach the front door. Her nerves were beginning to get the best of her. She moved from the window and went back to her room, proceeding to get dressed In the nice sundress Nayeli had picked out for her. It was all white, and she paired It with white sandals. After getting dressed, Casedy made her way to Thabian's place, hoping that seeing her mate would help with the oncoming pressure of having to meet her biological family.
As expected, Thabian was also getting dressed. He was in his mirror, tying his tie. He smiled once he saw her. "Hello Beautiful." He greeted, finishing the final knot on his tie. He was wearing an all black suite with a white button up and black tie. He looked very sleek, especially with his curly hair styled nicely. He looked like a dream, and Casedy couldn't believe he was all hers. She walked over to him, gently pulled him down by his tie, and kissed him. His arms wrapped protectively around her.
"Hello, you.." She said, pulling back from their passionate kiss. "You want to get out of here?" Thabian chuckled and caressed her cheek with his thumb. "Baby, you know good and well we have to do this. It's too late to back out now. They are here to get to know you, not take you away. I won't let them do that, I promise." He said, his lips found hers again captured them in a fiery kiss. A knock on the door interrupted their moment.
It was Amelie. She too had on her white dress from earlier and had her long blonde hair tied into a knot atop her head. She looked radiant as ever, carrying herself with grace.
"I hope this isn't a bad time, you two..but Baptiste and Muriel are waiting in the main hall." She said, a smile gracing her lips. She gave them an approving look before making her way back to the main house. Casedy sighed, looking up at her lover. "I don't know if I am ready for this, Thabian. I feel like Im stuck.." She stepped over towards the window and looked out longingly. Thabian came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, giving her head a small kiss.
"We are going to do this together, as a team. You aren't alone." He reassured her. She relaxed into his embrace and took a deep breath. He would be her biggest support system through this, so she needed to start applying some trust, starting now.
"Okay...let's do this." She said. He nodded and took her hand, guiding her to the main house to meet her biological family.
