~ Lucian's POV ~

Thabian sat across from me with a stern look on his face. I was about to brief him on the new information we found out in Paris, but I wanted him to tell me how things were while we were gone. Something about him was different though. He seemed less brooding and more...alive? The boy has always been on the serious side. Even as a teenager. But as he sat before me, he seemed like a new man.

"So, tell me. Whats got you looking so...different?" I smiled. He relaxed in the chair and exhaled. "Well, I survived the kids. And I have some news for you..." His cheeks became flush. Lucian sat back in his chair, preparing for the news. His wife had told him that something important has happened and he needed to know about it. She wouldn't tell him what it was, and it worried him.

"I come to you out of respect. This situation is...unique. It's honestly unheard of and a major Taboo. The moon goddess has given me my mate..." I smiled. "Thabian, that's great news! Why do you seem downtrodden?" He watched the young wolf as he sighed and gave him a stern look.

"Alpha, Casedy is my mate. We found out last week and I rejected her. I was afraid of what you'd think or do. She's a 17 year old girl and I'm much older than she is. The age gap itself is so wrong but...I feel like I've always been connected to her. Even when she was an infant. I believe my wolf imprinted her when she was given to me years ago..."

The room went silent. I took a deep breath and exhaled. I definitely was not expecting this, nor was I prepared. This situation is very...unorthodox and unique, as he put it. Thabian is 32. Casedy is 17 (soon to be 18 in 2 months). She is a Vampire and he is a Werewolf. The moon goddess truly made this pairing as a sign. But to what avail? Could it be because of her demon origins? I'd have to look more into this with Baptiste.

The door opened and my luna walked in. She sat down next to Thabian and gave him a pat on the back. "This is going to come as a shock to the both of you, but I knew about this the moment Thabian brought Casedy home 17 years ago."

Thabian couldn't bring himself to look at me. He kept his eyes to the ground and just...listened. I looked back to my wife in utter disbelief. "Why didn't you tell me this sooner, Amelie?" Tears began to well in her eyes. I didn't want you to do anything drastic. I wasn't sure how you'd react, especially since he's so much older than she is."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I needed time to think. I got up and headed for the door. Thabian and Amelie watched in confusion as I left without a word. I needed to go for a run.

~ Casey's POV ~

Danny and I were leaning against the door of my fathers office, trying to find out what they were talking about. Even with super hearing, it was hard to make out the words. Thankfully no one was yelling, but then we heard footsteps coming towards the door.

"Danny, go! Someone is coming out!" I whisper-yelled. He cursed and we both tried to run as fast (and quietly) as possible, but we failed. My father cleared his throat, causing Danny and I to turn around slowly. I flashed him my signature smile, hoping that the 'baby girl' card would work.

"Heeeey, Daddy! Um, I was just coming to see you! How was Paris?" He raised his brows and smirked. "Casedy, you and Danny have been caught eavesdropping so many times that I know when your mid get-away." Danny and I gave him surprised looks, acting as if we knew nothing. "Well, I guess I'll catch up with you in a few! I've got some homework to finish up! Bye!" I grabbed Danny by the wrist and proceeded to run away to my room. Once we got there, I locked the door and finally let out the breath I'd been holding.

"Dude, He knows. They told him." Danny said. I took a seat next to my bed. "What do you think he's going to do? He didn't seem upset or happy. And we didn't exactly stay long enough to talk with Thabian and my mom." Danny shrugged and plopped down on my bed. "Only one way to find out." I sighed, knowing exactly what had to be done.

I had to talk to my dad, one on one.

~ Amelies POV ~

After Lucian left, Thabian and I were left alone in the office. He looked scared, but not of Lucian. He was afraid of loosing Casedy. His loyalty to Lucian is unbreakable, but I could tell he was having a hard time with how Lucian responded. I grabbed his hand and held it tightly.

"Thabian, honey...calm yourself. It's going to be alright."

He looked at me, tears almost welling up in his eyes. His grip on my hand tightened. "Luna, I'm so sorry that I rejected her. If I had just claimed her, none of this would be happening. I'm loyal to Alpha Lucian and I'd lay down my life for him without thinking. But I love her, and even though this whole thing is odd because of the age gap I still want her. I need her. And my wolf cannot survive without her. She's been my heart since the day I brought her home. From the moment her birth mom placed her in my arms, she has been the one thing that keeps me going. And she's worth fighting for. I need Alpha's blessing before I mark her, because his approval means everything. She is too important and too special for me to be so selfish. I'm willing to wait until she comes of age or when her Feral fully matures. I know the situation is delicate, so I don't want to overstep any boundaries. I love her too much to do that to her."

I didn't notice the other presence in the room until I heard a sniffle from behind me. Casedy stood there, leaning against the doorway, wiping her eyes. Thabian looked at her and immediately got up to walk towards her.

She met him half way and hugged him. "Thabian, I forgive you...and I love you too."

My heart melted. Seeing the two of them together made me so happy. I knew he'd do everything in his power to take car of her, and she'd do the same for him. The way he looked at her and the way he held her said it all. I watched as she kissed his lips and let go of him for just a second. She looked at me and smiled. I winked at her before heading out of the room to give them both some privacy.

"Mom?" I turned, looking in her direction. She gave me a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks for everything. You're the best."

"You're welcome, Darling. Now if you will excuse me, I need to talk with your dad. Let me handle this one, ok?" She nodded and gave me a small smile. I waved as I made my way out to the woods where I knew Lucian would be.

Hopefully he and his wolf were in the mood to listen.
