It was too much of a risk. For all he knew, Error could just be acting.

The Multiverse had just started to get better and Error was a criminal, with power far greater than the Corruptor and himself. If he were to free his rival from here and mess up everything they’ve worked for…

Ink wouldn’t be able to live with himself.

After replacing the clamps around the glitch, he left the room, Sci trailing behind him in concealed worry. Ink didn’t look back, purposely avoiding the desperate gaze following his every move until it couldn’t anymore.

With so much going on already, Nightmare and his gang and that damn parasite. He couldn’t just release Error into the Multiverse because his gut said so.

Sci confided his worries as soon as they reached a far enough area from the basement. “Ink, this is serious-” He was cut off.

“I know that.” Ink snapped back, deep in thought. He placed a hand on his chin, internally weighing the pros and cons.

From what he’d seen, Error was extremely frightful and sensitive. He had the ability to speak but they couldn’t understand him. He could possibly write out what he needs but that’ll mean he’ll have to use his hands and Ink didn’t trust that method.

But if his theory was correct and Error wasn’t aware of what he was doing, that could mean that he only acted that way because he was asleep at the time. So to prevent that from happening again…

He sighed, moodily scratching his skull. “Just continue with normal procedure. Give it a month and if there’s no change in his current behavior, call me. Don’t give him any more sedatives and replace it with a stimulants, the strongest one you have.” Sci looked ready to protest but Ink cut him off, his tone became stern. “Don’t tell the Council.” The smaller skeleton only nodded hesitantly at the warning before retreating back into the basement.

Ink shook his head, the image of his rival’s desperate expression leaving his mind as quickly as it came. He was sure this would all blow over and fade from his mind.

The Destroyer was still too powerful to free, no matter how innocent he seemed.

A month had passed and just as Ink instructed, Sci gave him the call.

Error was different when he arrived. He didn’t have the same desperation in his expression that made him so uncomfortable. A forlorn frown looked back at him instead, it was almost pitiful.

The glitch was uninterested in him, glancing over from time to time but mostly stared at the ceiling. His soul palpitations were increased at a concerningly high rate, it looked near combusting. But Error’s stats were the same with his mood being described as; Resentful yet fatigued.

A pang of guilt struck him, Ink understood why Error resented him, it was obvious. But this was for his own good, for everyone’s good.

Any attempt at conversation or physical contact only ended up in him receiving a scornful glare. A completely different reaction from his last visit and it only gave Ink more doubts.

Sci informed him of any odd occurrences of the month, with the only one being Error’s sudden mood change. Ink went home afterwards, contemplating his current options.

Error now had a grudge against him, that could lead to all sorts of problems. He was clearly becoming increasingly hostile as the days passed. Freeing him so soon might not be the best option as he once thought.
