Duncan had turned back towards Rythian as Zoey and Teep left. He had already removed his outer jacket, and now he had to cut off his shirt, which was already going to be difficult, seeing how it was plastered to him with dried and fresh blood.
"Kim, hand me the water and the scissors"
"Okay, here" she said handing them to him
He gently washed off the blood and proceeded to cut of the remainder of the shirt. He finally got a clear look at the wound.
A large hole in the middle of his chest, done roughly and jagged, dominated. But extending over the heart, the cuts grew less jagged, more precise, as if someone was looking for something, but didn't find it where they expected it to be, and had to go more carefully.
Who they were, and what they were looking for he had no idea, but clearly they had thought him dead when they dumped him in the desert. Despite being in the middle of nowhere, no mob had done this.
There was no trace of any monsters, and the way the cuts grew more and more precise..No, someone had done this, with a purpose as well, not just general killing either.
"Kim, hand me the disinfectants so we can clean this out, and some needles and thread, we need to stop this bleeding. Some gauze as well" he said as he pulled apart the wound even more to make room.
"Here" she said, handing it to him
"Good, take the gauze and try and stop the bleeding where it's heaviest, I'm going to clean this out and try to fix some of the damage, especially around the heart first" said Duncan as he moved up to the heart, and Kim began placing gauze.
"What were they doing?" He wondered to himself as he began sewing and cleaning the area around his heart.
So neat, so precise here, unlike the first cuts.
As he began sewing, he noticed some strange irregularitie behind his heart.
"Kim, I think there's something here" he said as he began investigating
""What do you mean, something?" She asked as she began cleaning out the larger part of the wound
"I don't know, but I need to check it out"
"Okay, but be careful"
"Yeah" he said as he investigated further.
There definitely was something here, something strange and hard.
As he came around to the back of the heart, he finally uncovered a bit of, whatever it was.
It was greenish blue, and smooth. It was connected with blood vessels in places, and it sent tingling up and down his arms.
*Wait, I've seen this before* he thought
"Kim, look at this"
"What" she said, leaning over
As she looked, she saw, nestled behind Rythian's heart, connected like it belonged there, was an ender pearl.
