I met you on my 6th birthday. It was late July and the heat was unbearable. I had taken off my cotton white dress earlier that day leaving me with just my under top and a pair of thick white stockings. I still had baby curls and my chubby cheeks were a bright rose color from the warmth. There was a moving truck parked two lots up from my house and I saw people moving furniture into the house. I was fascinated by the weight the men in blue jumpsuits could hold. Soon enough a big white minivan pulled into the flat freshly paved driveway and out stepped a 26ish year old looking woman. She had large circle framed sunglasses on and a large floppy hat. I giggled at the sight of her struggle to keep up with the moving men ordering them to stop and listen but they kept walking. Next a handsome man about the same age as the lady stepped out. He was more calm then her and grasped her shoulders rubbing them helping soothe her from her stress. She rubbed her temples and walked over to the back door of the white vehicle. I watched as she unbuckled a boy about my age from his car seat he's looked happy to be out of the car. In one hand he clutched a toy car in the other hand a sippy cup was being strangled by his grip. He looked over at me and noticed I was staring. I blushed and turned around. I walked inside and got a piece of birthday cake and put it on a paper plate as a turned to walk back out side a sweet voice stopped me. "Baby girl where are you going" my momma asked me I smiled but just replied "look!" I continued to walk to the house with the truck and minivan parked out front with my mom trailing behind still confused as to where I was going with the large piece of cake in my hand. As I reached the yard the family created me with warm smiles. "Hi, I'm Eleanor, I live in that house", I tuned and pointed to my home that stood out further away. I continued, "welcome to our neighbor hood, this is for you" I said to the boy standing before me. He took the cake and smiled "thanks" he replied. His voice was smooth and he seemed so nice. For a moment I forgot why I was there, when I eventually got my head back to the real world I was just standing there all eyes on me. "Um, err, well bye" I said as I ran back to my house. I geared a chuckle from the dad as my mom apologized for when just happened and introduced herself. When I reached my bedroom I picked up my doll and sat there and the sun filled room smiling. I couldn't wait to go back tomorrow and learn more about this boy across the street.
