Gulf aggressively washed the thick red liquid off his shaking hands, while the tears were uncontrollably falling down, mixing with the reddish water, going down the drain. All red disappears after the second wash, but he keeps rubbing his hands together under the running water, hoping to wash away the memory of it as well.At some point, he gives up, and grabs the sides of the sink instead to support his heavy body as his sobs get louder and louder. Hopefully, the sound of the running water would cover his pitiful cries, although, he’s sure his red eyes would give him away, anyways.
God.... he'd never forgive himself if something happens to Mew!
Knowing that the Wedding planner was still in surgery, knowing he lost a lot of blood, knowing that he was fighting for his life… it was enough to drive Gulf mad on the inside. It had been hours and it wasn't getting any better.
When his breathing finally slows down, regaining a close-to-normal pace, he splashes his face with cold water multiple times, before walking out of the bathroom. He doesn’t bother changing his blood-stained shirt, and was heading back to the waiting room when he sees the hallway of the hospital was filled to the brim with journalists from every kind of news source imaginable, including a few officers who'd come for investigation.
Gulf felt a horrible sense of entrapment
"Please Go outside....Don't crowd here".
The hospital staff told the reporters, urging them to go out."Mr. Kanawut" One of the officer took a step towards Gulf "We need your statement regarding whatever happened"
Gulf took a deep breath "Sure"
“Can you tell us what exactly happened?
We have the CCTV footage from one of the shop that was nearby but we'd rather hear it directly from you"The memory brings an acid taste to Gulf's mouth, but he still needs to tell the Cops about it, so he swallows it down, and speaks, “It was around 3: 40 PM, we went out for a walk with Mew's dog. When we were near the park, suddenly Mew stopped whatever he was saying..."
"Mr. Suppasit had seen the Assassin?"
"Yeah...he had gun and Mew saw it first,”
he pauses, the words still clogging his throat, the scene still too vivid in his mind.
“I- I think the Assassin was aiming at me, but Mew-”"Yes, Mr Kanawut?"
Gulf takes a deep breath to stop his eyes from welling with tears once more, “he jumped in front of it. We both fell down, and I heard the sound of gunshot"
As he tells the officers the details of the incident, the tears in Gulf's eyes were replaced with the fire of vengeance.
"And Mr Kanawut, as you told us about the threat call; it is likely you are still in danger and the person behind all this is still after you. So we'll do everything in our hands to ensure your safety but you too would have to be careful"
"Yes officer. Anything else I could help you with?"
"As of now this is okay. But we need the records of all the cases you've been working in the past month."
Gulf nodded his head in agreement.
"Okay That's it. Thank you so much for co- operating with us. We'll continue our investigation and get to the end of this. Whoever it is, We will make sure they won’t see the daylight ever again, once they get caught,”
With a curt nod the officers left Gulf alone with his miserable thoughts.

The rest of the night passes in a blur. Gulf doesn’t remember getting inside, or sitting in the slapdash waiting room set up in an extra room.
Pam and Raven arrives at some point.
“Gulf!” His fiancee hugs him briefly, “What happened? Are you okay?”
She studies his face and body
carefully, searching for any injuries.“I’m okay,” he reassures her, “He’s-”
he juts his chin in the direction of the Operation theatre “-not.”Pam holds Gulf's hand and urges him to sit down with her "He's gonna be okay Gulf...don't worry"
Gulf nods, not absorbing anything she or Raven says.
He didn’t even realised when she gently placed a cup of hot tea down in front of him. He merely continued to stare into space.Pam looked at her fiancee with mounting worry.
"Drink some tea. Try."Gulf didn't move, just breathed in deeply, releasing the air in a not-quite sigh. Pam grabbed his hand and put it on the table. Gulf looked at it like it wasn’t attached to his body, then finally snaked it around the cup and brought the tea to his lips, downing the contents in one long gulp.
Minutes passed before he suddenly stood up, still clutching the cup.
"I have to see him," he breathed, starting toward the hall with a determined pace.Pam stumbled to her feet and dogged his steps, gently touching his back. He stopped abruptly and looked at her.
"They probably won’t let you in, Gul-'"I can’t just- just not go!’" he snarled, taking a step away from her.
"I was there, for God's sake, I should've heard it coming. Pam, don't you understand, I'm responsible for all this. HE SAVED MY FUCKING LIFE! AND HERE I AM WAITING HELPLESSLY, NOT BEING TO ABLE TO SAVE HIM!""Gulf, baby it's not your fault! You are not responsible for this. Stop blaming yourself please."
Pam had never seen Gulf this paranoid before. He was acting like a mad man.
"Will you two please stop! My friend is in the operation theatre because he apparently felt YOUR life was worth more than HIS so Mr. Gulf Kanawut Shut the fuck up and sit!"
Pam looked at Raven with a horrified expression, she probably wanted to say something in Gulf's defence but...
"NOT A WORD I SAID!" Raven glared at them.
Gulf found his way back to his chair and reverted back to his trance like state
His mind went to the worst possible scenarios.....
Maybe he'll never see Mew alive again.
Maybe he'll never hear Mew's silly jokes again.
Maybe the last image he'll ever have of him is of his corpse.
Cold, unmoving. Dead.
