I sat up from my horribly uncomfortable couch as I yawned. I looked around, eyes landing on the clock.
8:47 a.m.
"Hello Sunday," I mutter to myself. I stood up, feeling a bit dizzy at first. The television played a random historical movie on the civil war as I began to reach for the remote.
The television clicked off, screen going black. I decided to get changed. A black trench coat and a red scarf with black pants. Black suited me.
I didn't know where I was headed, but I grabbed my keys and exited my apartment. The blistering cold hit my pale skin as it traveled up and down my body.
I headed down the stairs and onto the sidewalk towards the heart of town. The occasional jogger passed by, along with a group of workers heading to work.
I decided to go to the bookstore again. Hoping to find a book that would take more time to complete.
As the door opened, the warm air came flowing out. The clerk greeted me as I made my way around to the books. I settled on a book about some story about Titans and how humanity was nearly extinct.
"It's a really good book," the clerk said as I handed it to him. He checked the price as I broke out my wallet.
"It looks interesting. I wonder how it would be if it were actually true," He handed me the book, taking the cash. "You can keep the change."
I waved goodbye as I entered the cold once again. The café seemed like a nice place to go with a new book.
I turned the corner to find myself amused. Eren was struggling to run towards the café, trying not to drop his bag. I stood, holding the door for him.
"Ah, good morning Levi," he said in between breaths. "Thank you. I thought I was going to be late. I'll be with you in a moment."
I took a seat at one of the booths on the side of the shop. The shop smelled of coffee and baked goods.
I began to pull out my book as I was waiting for Eren. I read for a good five minutes before Eren came to get my order.
"Black coffee please," he nodded. "Coming right up!"
He scurried behind the counter, making my black coffee. He looked over his shoulder to see if any of his coworkers were behind him. He was satisfied as he put the lid on the coffee cup.
He looked happy as he walked over to the booth, setting down the coffee and sliding into the seat across from me.
He seemed to have noticed my book because he crouched down to read the description on the back. "Looks interesting," he said. "It would be pretty crazy if it were real."
"Yes I suppose. It seems very violent though. The titans eat humans for pleasure." I explain as his face scrunched up in disgust.
"I'm pretty sure humans don't taste that great." He let out a small laugh as his face softened.
"Hey Eren, what time should I come over tonight?" He thought for a moment. "Seven thirty?"
I nodded. "I have to get home at six so I think seven thirty should be alright."
I sip my coffee for the first time, making sure not to burn my tongue. Black coffee was always the best to me.
"I'd better get back to work before I get in trouble. I'll see you tonight?" He stood, giving me a questioning look. "Definitely. See you then."
Time flew by as I sat in the café reading my book. I had finished my coffee ages ago but I wanted to sit and continue reading my book in a peaceful place. Finally around 11:20 I decided to pack up and leave.
