The loud buzzing coming from her phone for the third time that morning was enough to finally force Andy to open her eyes, pressing accept blindly.

"Hello?" She croaked, falling back onto her pillows as she sighed into the phone.

"Hey, can we meet?"

"Vic? You do know it's like 6:30 in the morning right now? A time when I would usually like to be asleep, especially when I'm not on shift today," she groaned.

"Yeah I know I just really need to talk to you," she said, sounding like she was rushing around her and Travis' house in a whirlwind.

"Um okay, yeah. Where?"

"Moore's down by the docks?"

"That's so far..." Andy complained, rubbing her eyes with her other hand, trying to wipe the sleep from them.

"Please?" Vic asked quietly, her voice a whisper in the phone, prompting Andy to sit up as she heard the pleading tone in her voice.

"Uh yeah, give me like twenty minutes,"

"Great. I'll see you soon,"

Vic was usually so confident, but over the phone she had sounded so small and unsure of herself, pleading with Andy to meet her for coffee. Thoughts were racing around Andy's head as she rushed to get ready, grabbing the nearest pair of jeans and the cleanest smelling top from the growing mound of laundry at the bottom of her bed. She managed to sneak out of the apartment without waking Carina, knowing Maya would already be out on a run. She drove on autopilot, cruising through the relatively quiet side streets of Seattle towards Moore's, the coffee shop that became a firm staple for anyone staying at Dean's for longer than two days.

As the bell on the door chimed to signal someone's arrival, she threw her gaze across the shop, quickly landing on the back of Vic's head.

"Could I have a small black coffee please? Thanks," she said to the barista, only briefly looking away from her friend, already seeing the anxious leg bouncing that annoyed her to no end.

Armed with her coffee, she edged her way over to the corner table at the back of the shop, her friend's eyes fixed firmly on something outside the window.

"Vic?"

"Oh hey, that was fast," she forced a tiny smile, stilling her leg under the table.

"So what made you call me and force me out of my warm bed at this ungodly hour?" she joked, trying to lighten the obvious anxiety radiating from the other woman.

"You ever thought about having kids?"

Andy was sure her heart actually stopped beating in that moment, a cold sweat immediately coating the palms of her hands.

"What?"

"Kids. You ever thought about them? You know having them, pushing one out of a tiny hole in your body and then having their sticky little jam hands all over everything you own?"

"Um Vic-"

"'Cause I never thought about it, not really I mean I guess I thought it would happen eventually, you know maybe if I ever got married but I guess I just never really considered it as an option until I was older, you know? I mean it's not like I'm that young, I mean I wouldn't be considered a teen mom by any stretch but I'm still not ready for kids. How do you even know when you're ready for kids? Is there a little sign or something like a lightbulb that goes off above your head like 'Hello, time to pop out some babies now!' Is it more like a feeling? Or maybe you're just kinda born knowing that you want them 'cause if that's the case then it's definitely not for me I mean look at my parents! They were barely even ready for me and I have no idea how I'd even begin to raise a whole other human but I-"
