y/n's pov

A few weeks had passed since I spent the day with Tom and his family. Just a few weeks. Yet those few weeks had changed everything. Through his family, Tom had instinctively opened up more which lead him to being more relaxed. I now saw this whole other side to him; sweet, caring and actually quite funny.

Him letting his guard down meant that work was a much less tense environment as well. For me but I think also for others for some reason. The other day, I swear I overheard some workers whispering;

"Mr Holland smiled at me today!"

"Do you think he's ill?"

He hadn't changed, he was just a new version of himself. A version I believe Nikki would be very happy with.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

"Come in!"

He walked in with a soft smile on his face, the lines around his eyes making me instantly smile myself.

"Hey y/n, Haz and I were going to go out for lunch, you wanna come with?"

"Of course! Let me just finish this and I'll meet you in 5?"

"No problem, the limo is outside whenever you're ready."

"Thank you sir, I'll be as quick as I can."

"By the way, call me Tom once we've left the building. You technically won't be on work duty so." He playfully winked and laughed before leaving.

Well, now my tummy was filled with butterflies.

After rapidly finishing the last of my paper work, I made my way down to the limo in which Tom and Harrison were already sitting.

"Hey y/n, how are you?" Harrison flashed a cheeky grin.

"Great thanks! And you?"

"Better now you're here." He winked, leaving my a bit shocked.

I glanced over to see Toms hands balled into a fist and his jaw clenched slightly. He seemed mad but I was too distracted with how attractive he looked like this.

"Oh ignore him, he's just lonely." Tom chuckled lowly through gritted teeth.

"Says you." Harrison muttered, making me bite my lip to not laugh at his playfulness.

"Hey, don't laugh." Tom smirked and shoved my shoulder with his.

"It is a little funny. You can tell you two are best friends." I giggled.

"Nah he's just a prick, don't like him that much really." Harrison flipped Tom off making me burst out laughing.

"Back at you mate." Tom returned with his middle finger.

"You love each other really." I smiled.

"Nope." They said in sync.

We got the restaurant which was Italian; my favourite. I was practically drooling as we passed people eating whilst being guided to our table.

"You look hungry love." Tom grinned.

"If I had the ability to eat everything on this menu, I would in a heartbeat." I said, making Tom and Harrison laugh. "So Harrison, I want to know some embarrassing stories about Tom." I smiled, leaning on my hand.

"Really? Can we not-"

"Well when we were in primary school-"

"Oh for fucks sake-"

"Shut up Thomas I'm trying to speak." Harrison snapped, making my hand slap to my mouth when I saw Tom roll his eyes.

It was the best afternoon ever.

Harrison told me all these childhood stories of Tom and in retaliation Tom spilt all the embarrassing details of Harrison's. I didn't talk much but I didn't need to, I just loved hearing about their past.

Watching Toms face light up when he passionately talked about their antics made my smile widen. He was so beautiful when he was happy.

Laughing and joking with them almost made me forget about the real reason I was here. The real reason I was with them. It was at that moment that it hit me; this isn't a job anymore. I'm making friends. I'm creating bonds. I really like these people. And I love some of them too.

Shit.
