part 1: new to the screen

I stood there my hands shaking looking in disbelief to my computer screen.

It was a email directed to me,
Dear Astrid, you got the part. We look forward to seeing you with the whole cast together! Here are your tickets to come down the charleston, and the hotel you will be staying at.

Director Jonas Pate.

Rooted to my chair, I took a moment to breathe. No way, how could I come from reminiscing about a summer on the beach to being in my all time favourite show The Outerbanks.

What did he even mean by "we" the cast? I felt excitement rush over me of just the idea of it.
It was my first big show, something people would truly get to see my passion for.

Calling my friends they squealed shocked over the phone, as I didn't hesitate to do the same.
Lying down that night I read my book a bit and started at the ceiling.
Full of thoughts.

"Ring." My phone dings as I pick up.
A unknown number.
"Hello?" I question sitting my head up, to hear a familiar voice trying to not skip a breath.
"Hey Jonas gave me your number." The voice which seems to be Madelyn Clines voices out.

I breathe a second with a smile plastering on my face, is this the life now? Casually calling people like Madelyn Cline as if we have known each other forever.

"I-I is this Madelyn Cline?" I ask with her hearing my joy over the phone.
She giggles and says yes.
"Yeah! Your Astrid right? Uh call me maddy." She says in a friendly tone.

We talk on and on about past auditions, favourite recipes, and it then led to more about the cast.
"You know the cast right?" Maddy smiles as I say yes.
"Yes you guys all seem like really great people." I compliment as she talks about them.
The funny thing is although they were all casted to be friends on the show, they are all even closer in real life.

"And your character isn't exactly a pogue though." She laughs and I do too, started to get more comfortable in the conversation.

"No way! She hangs out with um Rafe right?" I say with a questioning tone.
"Not just hang out... I'm pretty sure that Jonas is planning on writing for them to be together." She laughs at me, with me completely unaware although it was the character I was playing.

"Well I mean Drew is really talented, I can't believe he's so different in real life." I say honestly thinking about how different Rafe is.

"Yeah honestly I'm sure you'll have fun working with him. Plus not to make things awkward but by the photo I saw of you, your so his type." She laughs hysterically as I do too, denying it over and over again.

"Gosh maddy we haven't even met I'm sure he's great though." I smile and we talk more and more, eventually Chase saying hi on the phone.

When the call ends, I smile and turn off my light ready to fly to Charleston the next day. But as I flew to there little did I know my life would change forever
