Erens POV:
I had just finished my third work paper that needed to be signed when my phone rang. I glanced at the screen, seeing an unknown number, but I picked up anyway. "Hello?"
"Is this Eren Yeager?" a voice on the other end asked, calm but formal.
"Yes, who is this?" My stomach clenched involuntarily.
"I'm calling from Massachusetts General Hospital. It's about your mother," the voice said. Instantly, my heart sank, and everything around me blurred for a moment.
"Is she okay?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
"She's stable, Mr. Yeager. Your mother was in a car accident earlier today. Fortunately, nothing critical happened, but we wanted to inform you that she's here, being treated for minor injuries."
My mind raced. I couldn't process what they were saying fast enough. She was okay? I breathed out a shaky sigh of relief. "Thank you. I'll be there soon."
Before I could hang up, the nurse added, "She's conscious now and asked if we could connect you for a call."
Dr
I immediately agreed, and after a few seconds of silence, I heard my mother's voice, tired but comforting. "Eren ?""Mom? What happened? Are you okay?"
"Relax, sweetheart," she said, and I could hear her smile through the phone. "I'm fine, just a little scrape on my hand. I'm more worried about the car than myself."
"Mom, this isn't the time to joke."
She chuckled softly, her laugh grounding me. "I know, I know. It's nothing serious, I promise. But there's something else I need to tell you while I have you on the phone."
I frowned. "What is it?"
"Well, I've been doing some thinking... You work too much, Eren . Always buried in your businesses, your deals just like your father And as your mother, I have the right to worry about you." She paused, her voice taking on a teasing tone. "So, I might have taken matters into my own hands."
"What are you talking about?"
"I've arranged an engagement for you," she said bluntly. "You're not getting any younger, and if you keep working the way you do, I'll never have grandchildren. So, I made some plans."
"Engagement? What?" I felt like I'd been hit by another wave. "With who?"
"One of your old friends, Eren . Someone who knows you, cares about you. You'll see."
I was silent for a moment, trying to gather my thoughts. "Mom... you can't just arrange an engagement for me."
"Why not?" she said with mock innocence. "You haven't been doing much about it yourself, and I know you, Eren. You need someone to help balance your life."
I sighed, running my hand through my hair. "I don't even know what to say right now."
"You don't need to say anything. Just meet them when I'm out of here. Give it a chance."
Before I could respond, I heard another familiar voice in the background—my father. "Eren, is that you?" he asked, his tone warm and loving. "Your mother's fine, don't worry. I just got here."
"Hey, Dad. Yeah, I've been told. How is she?"
"Being as stubborn as ever," he replied, making my mother laugh. "I'll take care of her, don't you worry."
For a moment, I was quiet, listening to the way my parents interacted. The tenderness in their voices, the effortless way they supported each other. My father had rushed to the hospital, despite his busy schedule, to be by her side. It was a picture of what love should look like. They weren't perfect, but they were partners, always there for each other no matter what.
I couldn't help but wonder—would I ever have that?
The thought of my mate that omega, came to mind. I didn't know why, but I thought of the small, sharp-eyed stubborn and resilient Omega I had spent the night with not too long ago. Something about him stayed with me, lingered like a whisper I couldn't ignore. Was that what I was looking for? A bond like my parents had? Could Levi be the one to give me that kind of life .
"Son," my father's voice broke into my thoughts, "you need to slow down sometimes. Find someone who'll keep you grounded. Your mother might be pushy, but she's right."
I couldn't help but smile a little. "Yeah, I know."
"Take care of yourself, Eren We love you."
"I love you too, Dad."
I hung up, the weight of the conversation sinking in. My parents had each other—always. And I? I had my work, my responsibilities. But deep down, I knew I wanted more. I wanted what they had. Stability. Love. A future.
The thought of that Omega lingered again, and I couldn't help but wonder where he was, what he was doing. I hadn't marked him that night, hadn't claimed him the way most Alphas would. But something about him made me feel like I didn't need to rush. He wasn't just any omega.
With a deep breath, I leaned back in my chair, feeling the beginnings of a plan form in my mind. One thing was for sure—whether or not my mother's engagement plans worked out, I wasn't going to let the idea of love and family slip away. My life could have more than just business deals and boardrooms. Maybe, just maybe, he was a part of that picture.
