5PM Friday Coffee Shop

I was staring at my best friend and her boyfriend while they ordered our coffee at the counter. Ben's left hand was on Sydney's shoulders. Today marked their second year anniversary as a couple. I stared at them with both my hands under my chin. It was our last year in high school, well Sydney and I.

Ben already graduated last year and was now in college. I smiled when I saw Ben kiss Syd's hair. They got the receipt and walked hand in hand towards me. I removed my hands under my chin and smiled at them. My best friend sat beside me and Ben sat in front of her.

"So, I was thinking of doing Odette at the cosplay event." Sydney crossed her legs and turned to me.

"Odette? Mobile Legends's Odette?" I asked her, my eyebrows scrunched together.

"Yeah!" Sydney replied then she turned to Ben and looked at him with a smile.

"Which one? Odette has so many skins." I asked her as I turned on my silver laptop.

"I was thinking how the Black Swan would cost if I had it custom made?" Sydney said as she waited for my laptop to load.

I pulled out my browser and searched for the specific character, "you'll definitely look good on this, Syd. This is perfect!" I told her as I turned the laptop so Ben could see too. Then the three of us stared at the image.

I moved my laptop away when our order arrived. Sydney ordered me a ham roll and a caramel macchiato. I got my wallet out of my bag when Sydney spoke.

"It's our treat because it's our anniversary." Sydney said and Ben just nodded in agreement.

"Wow, thank you." I said after I took a sip of my drink.

Then we all started to eat. The two of them just ordered their regulars which was: Iced Americano for Ben and Frappuccino for Syd. They both loved blueberry cheesecake so they both dug in immediately.

I swallowed my food then spoke again, "will the red wig be very expensive?" I said while I stared at the image again.

"Probably," Sydney replied before she took a sip of her drink.

Ben was supposed to say something when three loud guys entered the coffeeshop. We glanced at them momentarily and then returned our eyes back to the laptop screen.

"This might take months," Ben commented and took another bite of his cake.

Sydney's phone lit up and then mine too. It was a generic text message from school regarding the mask requirement. All of our phones were on the table so I just swiped the notification and closed the browser. I turned off my laptop and placed it inside my bag. We ate quietly. because the three guys on the other side of the aisle were noisy enough. They killed the relaxing vibe of the shop.

We finished our food faster than what we regularly did because we wanted to get out of the place. I picked my shoulder bag and picked up my phone from the table. Then the three of us walked on the aisle and out of the restaurant. Ben whistled when we saw a Porsche beside his Subaru. I was looking for the plate number of the Porsche but I saw the word Panamera instead.

I got in the backseat and closed the door then Ben started the car. Sydney was putting on her seatbelt and I was about to do the same when someone knocked on Ben's window. Ben was a little startled but he pressed the window button and it rolled down.

"Can you let us go first?" One of the noisy guys said from the window. His hair was dyed green.

"Sure, go ahead." Ben said then the guy left. And Ben closed his window.

I put out my phone and checked the full text message from the school. The three of us watched as the Porsche got out of the parking lot.

"Those three guys have trouble spelled on their forehead." Sydney commented and she took a photo of the car. Then Ben maneuvered out of the parking lot and into the highway.
