Inspired by the song by Evanescence-bring me to life. I don't own the song, all rights are reserved to Evanescence and partners.

This is the first time I am trying a third pov. If you see anywhere where I still switch to the first POV, please let me know. I want to push myself a bit as a writer.

How can you see into my eyes, like open doors. Leading you down into my core, where I've become so numb

Dimitri looked down at the sleeping girl. Her dark hair was fanned out over the pillow, her face was relaxed, her mouth slightly open. Her ruby lips beckoned him as did the small trail of blood leading from two puncture wounds in her neck down into her chest. The slight rise and fall of her chest made him feel slightly envious. He hadn't taken a breath in a couple of weeks.

He was stronger now- better. He was no longer tied to time or duty. He could live forever and do whatever he wanted.

And he wanted her.

He tried to get away from her. It is one of the reasons he came to Russia. How stupid he had been. It was like they were connected. Even half across the world she followed him. She would always follow him. The moment he saw her on the streets it felt like his heart started beating again. He was drawn to her. To her beauty, to her strength and simply to her.

He had contemplated taking her life there. It would have been easier for them both. But he hadn't been able to. No, that wasn't true. He could have- he should have. But she touched something inside of him that had been numb for the last few weeks.

Without a soul. My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold, until you find it there and lead it back home

He no longer held onto the morality of his old life. He took what he wanted and felt no remorse for it. He was a predator. The lion didn't feel guilty taking the gazelle, so he wouldn't feel guilty devouring his prey.

But his Roza wasn't his prey. She was home. It had felt like a piece of him had been missing. He blamed it on the transition. He didn't know how he was supposed to feel. He felt like an animal the first few weeks, only the bloodlust had filled him, nothing else. His spirit, the thing that made him Dimitri, had no longer existed. Not until her.

He had missed his partner, his equal. Once she was turned they could be together forever. They were invincible together. They would take care of Galina and they would rule. Or they would roam and take their fill of the world. It didn't really matter to him. If you have power, you can do anything. But he knew anything he wanted to do would include her.

Wake me up inside -save me. Call my name and save me from the dark-wake me up. Bid my blood to run-I can't wake up. Before I come undone -save me. Save me from the nothing I've become.

When he fed from her, her sweet nectar would fill an emptiness inside of him. It had woken him up to the possibilities of this world with her by his side. He hadn't cared about anything before her. He just took blood and life, almost going through the motions. He enjoyed the carnage and he especially enjoyed the fear before the carnage - ah and the begging, he liked the begging. But he had wondered if that was all there was in the life of a Strigoi. He didn't think he could live eternity like that.

He would be bored pretty quickly. His prey was too weak, there was no challenge in taking them down. He enjoyed his power, but it meant his prey was always outmatched. He would often request to take down Guardians. At least they would put up a decent fight. But dhampirs weren't as tasty as Moroi, so it was a trade-off.
