"Daddy, can we go to the park this weekend??"
"I can't bud daddy working, but I'll see if I can take you next week. How does that sound?" I ask the 3-year-old on my lap.
"That's okay," Chloe says in an upset tone.
When she exits the office that's when I get to work on the next script for a movie I had in mind.
Time skip
"Babe dinner's ready," Drew says in the doorway of my office
Without looking up from my laptop I say "I'll be there in a minute babe"
"No you won't you have been giving me that same line for the last 2 weeks Y/N," she says while coming to close my laptop
"What did you do that for that wasn't even saved?"
"Y/N come eat and I'm not saying it again"
"Drew I'm busy at the moment I'll come to eat when I finish this page"
"You know what you win, but don't think you sleeping in the bed with me tonight since you so busy you can sleep yo ass on that couch" storms out right after and left me in my office alone.
And she meant that.
Next morning
"Good morning guys, what is on the agenda for today?" I ask while replying to a text my assistant sent me about the project.
"Mama is taking us to the zoo today," Dominik says with a smile on his and his sister's faces.
Drew walks down the stairs and kisses their heads, but doesn't show me any attention. Guess I deserve that
Good morning my babies, are we ready for the zoo?"
"Yes" the twins excitedly say
"Can daddy come?" they ask and all eyes are on me.
"Not this time guys, I have a lot of work to get done," I said watching all of their faces fall. Meanwhile, Drew's face holds an unknown look that I would soon find out the meaning of.
Little did I know that answer would come sooner than I hoped
Next day
"Babe" I call out walking into the house
"What Y/N??" Drew said with a slight annoyance in her voice
"Where are the kids??"
"They are at my mother's because we need to have a talk"
"Talk about what??"
"Y/N what's today??" she asks me
"It's June 5th, why??"
"The date doesn't ring a bell for you??"
"No, should it??" I ask
"Oh My God Y/N, today was Denver's karate class"
"That was today??"
"Yes, Y/N it was today," she said while I got a message from my secretary.
"Let me guess that's Amber," she said with so much distaste in her voice
"Why would you say her name like that?? The girl is just my secretary and that's it" I said getting tired of having the same conversation with her
"Well, I wouldn't have to say her name like that if you wouldn't be in the office with her at all hours of the night when your family needs you home"
"I'm doing this for y'all. the long hours, sleepless nights. I'm doing this for y'all. So I can give you the life you want and the kids don't grow up the way I did"
"Y/N this won't be the life I want and dreamed of if you are not here to share it with me"
"I didn't think about it from how you felt. Alright I'll start cutting my hours back and come home at a decent time just don't leave me" I said while crying and begging Drew for another chance
"Y/N you know I don't listen to words. If your actions don't match your words, I'm leaving and taking the kids with me"
"I promise I won't fuck up anymore and I'll make things right with all of you"
"Don't make me look and feel stupid by taking you back"
"I won't"
Little did I know this was just the beginning of the battle to get my family back.
Drews POV
It has been a little over three months since Y/N and I had our little conversation and they have made the effort of keeping their family, but something is still not sitting right with me. In these last few months since our talk and I must say that Y/N did put some Action behind her words. She started taking me on dates twice a month, takes the kids on a date with just them once a month, and she even stopped working weekends. The only downfall is Amber is still around and blowing up her phone after hours.
"Babe?" I ask Y/N
"Hmmm?"I ask still sleep
"Why is your phone going off??"
"I really don't know everyone in the office knows the updated schedule and knows not to contact me unless it's detrimental," I say while fully waking up
"According to Amber, one of my clients has dropped out and she is requesting me to come in on my day off"
"And are you??"
"No, I've made a promise to my lovely wife that I would spend more time at home and not focus on work when I am at home with the family," I said while walking towards Drew and wrapping my arms around her waist and putting my face in her neck
"I'm just checking" drew said getting out the bed
"Ik you are and I'm sticking to my promise" I said while hugging her from behind.
"Ok we'll see" Drew says while in my arms.
Do I intend to keep my promise? Yes I 100% do. Do I know it's gonna take a while for the family dynamic to get back to what it once was? Without a shadow of a doubt, but I also know that I love this women with my entire being and I'm not gonna let her go just because I was too focused on work and not home.
It's time that my actions speak louder than words.
I wanna start this by saying I apologize for being gone for so long, but with the family emergency that happened, me having to move back along with changing schools and starting to work again me writing fell by waste side, but ima do better and try to give y'all something small if not a full story hopefully once or twice a week. So all that I ask is that you be patient with me and hopefully I can stick to giving you guys what I'm holding myself too.😘😘
