I always felt safer when there was a blade in my hand. When I have the control. When someone is bending to my will.
I felt that right now as the blade in my hand slowly seeped into Deans' shoulder, just above his heart. He started to scream and writhe in pain only to realise that moving only made it worse.
'Dean just tell me why you did it and I might be more lenient about punishment'
We both knew this was a liar because the injury I had just inflicted on him will have him dead within the hour. At least his death will still be painfully slow as I let him bleed out.
'I did not betray you, nor did I help the enemy. Please you must believe me ' he pleads to me.
'Unfortunately for you I don't believe you because we have the evidence that you were letting a Russian girl from their mafia stay with you and therefore were endangering our whole mafia' I say.
'Please she has nothing to do with the war between the two mafias. She didn't even wat to join the Russian mafia, that's why she was here she wanted to join our mafia. Please you've got to believe me' he says as water gathers in his eyes.
Jesus, I wonder if he means this shit.
'What makes you think that we would have ever allowed one of them to join our mafia but don't worry someone I believe should be killing her right now' I say as I look at my watch to determine the time and when she was said to be shot.
'No! nononono. Please you can't kill her. I love her!' he shouts at me.
'Ah the real reason why you let her in so easily. You thought you loved her. Well, you should know never to trust your emotions especially in this line of work. With the dates of when she was here thanks to you, 3 of our shipments have been misplaced and this would explain it all' I say to him, and I see the dread fill his eyes as he hears what she's done
'No, she wouldn't do that to me' he says as he looks down
'This is why we don't love. Why we leave those emotions for those who have the capacity to handle them. People like us? Its only a weakness that can be used against them' I say.
I turn to look at Daryl, my father's second in command and someone I would consider more of an uncle than someone who works for the family.
He is just under 6ft but and packed with muscles all over however no matter how many times I have asked him apparently, he has never gotten a tattoo even though it would go so well with his look. Not to mention his eyes are almost as black as his hair and the creases and crow's feet on his face starting to become more prominent as he reaches his late 40s.
'You know what to do' I tell him and then I leave hearing screams come from dean until they abruptly stop when the door shuts. The pleasure of soundproof doors.
I take a left turn and then walk up the stairs of the basement until I'm on the ground floor again until I make it to the next set of stairs that lead towards my wing of the house.
When I get to my room I get out of the leggings and white T-shirt I had on, that were covered in sweat and blood.
My room was the smallest in the whole house and still it would be seen as massive to any person but considering we did live in a mansion it made more sense. After getting undressed I swiftly strode in to my bathroom and turned on the shower and then plugged in my waterproof EarPods and turned on my playlist to the next song to discover it was 'heart attack' by Demi Lovato.
I started humming along as I stepped into the shower trying to stop my thoughts from becoming too much for me to be able to sort through and not loose track of what is going on in my head.
When I get out of the shower, I put on khaki pants and a baggy tee then lifted it up so my torso was on show and then strapped on my belt of knives that would be hidden by the length of the shirt. As I put on my chunky boots, I slipped a dagger into one side of my left shoe and then a handgun in my right shoe as well as a pistol in my pants pocket. Compared to a normal mission I was very underdressed but the only important thing happening for the next few days was going to be that stupid ball everyone was attending, so I couldn't go overboard with the missions until then.
I contemplated whether it would be clever to continuing the book I had just started or update my father about any information, or lack thereof, about the Bravata I might have got from dean.
I decided to go with the latter and so I slip out of my room and start walking towards the other side of this house where the rest of my family resides. I always preferred solidarity over company, although that is not to say that I don't like company. I normally feel the most at home when surrounded by chaos which is why I love going on action missions and not stake outs.
As I start to make it towards the other side of the mansion, I hear shouts echo off the walls meaning my brother and father are arguing again.
'I told you not to use the fucking gun in the house!' Mateo, my father, shouts.
'It doesn't stop anyone else from walking into the house and using them.' Theo, my brother, shouts back at him.
I don't know why my father and Theo are always fighting. It is very recent and only started around five months ago, before that they did fight but it would be resolved, or they would never get far enough to reach the point of shouting. But now it seems as if they have been fighting for months. I don't think it helps that I am closer with my father than Theo. Even though Theo is only 16 he looks like he might be my age of 20 with him already having stubble and a body made of muscle and no fat, and his eyes are full of shadows that cloud them that weren't there before.
I make my steps faster to try and get there before they physically start hurting each other I quickly enter the kitchen where my father is standing on one side of the kitchen near the sink whilst Theo is all the way around the centre island on the other side and their both glaring daggers at each other.
' I'm so sorry to interrupt this most recent attempt at killing each other with looks but I have finished up with dean so if you would like to know what I got I suggest you end this for the time being' I say as I walk around to one of the cabinets and pull out a packet of twisters then move to sit down on a spiny stool at the kitchen island.
'Well, what did you find out' my father asks
'Well technically nothing but-'
'Then why the fuck are you here if you don't have any new information' Theo hisses
'Well, we already knew one of their location spots so why don't we start from there and see if they left anything behind after the spot was uncovered' I offer. Trying not to get annoyed at Theo
'also where the fuck is everyone like the people who work for us cause last time I checked my wing was off limits but not the rest of the fucking house. You do realise that this isn't just our house but also our base?' I ask incredulously. Waving my arms around to easily represent how fucking silent it is right now and how no one's here
'I don't think you can get much more from their tiny hideout but by all means go back if you want just, please this time take someone else with you please for your own safety' my father says as his eyes softened and the mention of safety.
'don't worry about me father, there is a reason I'm an active member of this mafia and will one day rule. And plus, you know I prefer working alone' I smirk at him trying to give him reassurance.
'I do not give up that easily Levina but we will discuss that later. Right now I should probably tell you why none else is here'
' oh yes please elaborate on that because I am still in questioning about it'
'Well...' my father starts and then looks away from me. This can't be good. 'I have decide to host the ball here in three days' time and the reason none is here is because they have just gathered all the things from the great hall and are safely putting them in storage to be kept safe until the ball is over'.
