"HE'S TRYING TO KILL ME! I'M LITERALLY ABOUT TO DIE!"

What an amazing thing to hear when walking through the doors of your new home, Kassie thought.

Upon entering her new home Kassie was met by her younger siblings Margot and Tyler running around the almost empty house.

Tyler with a lamp post in his right hand and Margot running for dear life.

"what are you guys doing?!" Kassie raised her voice, watching as the two who were previously running come to a halt.

"Why are you chasing Margot with the damn lamp post?" Kassie asked snatching the lamp post from the young boy.

"She called me stupid for not being able to say spec- pacif-" Tyler started before being interrupted.

"specific" Margot finished for him.

"apologize to him, Margot," Kassie said in a stern voice.

"I'm sorry Tyler," Margot said in annoyance.

"for?" he pushed, batting his eyelashes at her to come off as innocent.

Margot glared at him before upping her tone of voice to sound more cheerful. "I'm so so sorry for making fun of you for not being able to say 'specific' " she smiled at him.

He gave Margot a dirty look before returning his focus to Kassie.

"See how hard that was?" Kassie said to them both. "go play outside or something while mom and I unpack."

Tyler saluted her and Margot nodded.

"I think my tennis rackets and a sleeve of tennis balls are in that box over there" Kassie pointed.

Both Tyler and Margot went running to the box Kassie pointed to. They grabbed it and took it outside to the front yard.

Kassie walked into her new kitchen to see her mom setting down the last box labeled with the word KITCHEN in all caps.

"Hey, sweetheart! that's the last box now all we have to do is unpack it all" her mom said upon seeing her daughter walk in the room.

Kassie took a seat on one of the chairs that were left by the previous owners of the house.

"This is so cool" Kassie started, taking a small pause before continuing. "you know, having all this" Kassie finished holding her arms out to show she was talking about the house.

"I just wish I could've gotten it for a better reason" she sighed

Her mom sat next to her and put her hand on Kassie's shoulder. "I know sweetie but your dad would be proud to see you succeeding" she smiled sadly at her daughter.

Kassie's father had tragically passed in 2019 due to a car crash. He was crashed into by an under-aged drunk driver. Her dad's death led to Kassie getting a big portion of his inheritance, enough to buy the 2 stories, 2 bed, 3 bath, home in Orlando Florida with about 2k left to spare.

As Kassie went to start unpacking she nearly got trampled by Tyler and Margot running up to her.

"TYLER HIT THE BALL INTO SOMEONE'S YARD"

"MARGOT HIT THE BALL INTO SOMEONE'S YARD"

They both spoke at the same time.
"hold on, hold on one at a time. what happened?" their mom spoke overhearing the conversation.

"the ball got hit into someone's yard" Margot spoke.

"whose yard?" their mom asked.

"well how are we supposed to know Kas literally moved in today" Tyler answered.

"well just go get it" Kassie insisted.

"we can't. it went over the fence and into the backyard" Margot told her.

"I'll just go and ask for it back then. besides it gives me a chance to meet a neighbor or two" Kassie shrugged walking over to her slightly scuffed air force ones.

"which house am I going to?" Kassie asked her younger siblings. They pointed to the house across the street from Kassie's.

Kassie walked up and out of her light grey door, closing it using the silver button-like door handle.

As she walked across the street in her black Nike joggers, air force ones, and a dark green hoodie, she had arrived at her new neighbors home.

one knock, two, then a third knock against the mahogany door before the sound of quiet shuffles are heard upon the door swinging open to see a tall blonde with piercing green eyes.

"Hello?" the unknown male asks.

"uh hi! I'm your new neighbor and while I was unpacking my things my younger siblings were playing with my old tennis rackets and they hit the ball into your backyard and I was sorta wondering if we could get them back? you have a really nice house- not that I was looking in your house because that would be weird and I don't consider myself t-" the unknown blonde stopped her from continuing her nervous ramble.

"woah woah woah slow down" He chuckled.

"sorry" she smiled apologetically.

"no worries" he smiled back.

"did you understand anything from my rambling?" she questioned.

He leaned against the side of his door before answering.

"yeah so do you need me to grab those?"

"yeah if it's no trouble" Kassie shrugged.

"let's go then," he said starting to walk out his front door and to the fence door.

"oh- oh this way" she chuckled under her breath before catching up to him.

"I'm clay by the way," he said opening the fence door and walking into the backyard.

"Kassie"

"so I've heard" he reached down and grabbed the tennis ball.

As they were walking out of Clays' backyard, Kassie went on to thank him and apologize for all the time she had wasted.

"Thanks again Clay it was really nice to meet you"

Kassie then walked up to him and gave him a hug.

Which to most people (and Clay) this may be weird to hug a person you spent about 10 minutes with. But the way Kassie grew up it was a normal way to say thank you. which is partly the reason her love language happens to be touch.

"oh" Clay looked down "no biggie," he said as she pulled away from the hug.

"welp," Kassie said popping the 'p'

"I better get back to unpacking. but if you need anything I'm just across the road" she said starting to walk back a bit.

"bye!" Clay said starting to walk back to the mahogany door where the two blondes met.
