Family Ties

It has been a few weeks since Darrell had come into my room asking for a fresh start. And I had to admit. Things had been astronomically better. I had finally started to develop a relationship with Darrell. He really was a great brother. After I told him that I had a boyfriend, he immediately demanded to meet they guy as, and I quote 'No scumbag is going near my little sister until he's had my approval.' I'd had to stop him on his righteous tangent, to tell him that Heath had moved away and that it would be a while before Heath was going to be visiting up here. Darrell had admitted defeat after that point, but only for a short while.

It was quickly the weekend and I was sat on the phone to Heath, when Darrell came bouncing into my room, with the goofiest smile on his face.

"Is that your boyfriend you're on the phone to?" He asked with a coy smile on his face. I nodded trying to wave him away, so that I could hear what Heath was saying.

"I'm really sorry baby," I said to Heath over the phone, still trying to shoo Darrell out of my room. "But I can't come and stay this weekend, I can't afford the train prices, maybe in a few weeks?" I sighed, I really wanted to go see heath, but I really couldn't afford it. Just as Heath was about to reply Darrell interrupted once again.

"Woah, woah, woah there little sis! I have an amazing idea, that can solve this little money trouble. Put dear Heath onto speaker phone so that he can hear the awesomeness of my plan too." He told me. (He really did have quite an ego ;p)  I gave a loud over-exaggerated sigh and clicked my phone on to speaker and laid it on the bed.

"Okay Heath, baby, you're on speaker now." I said now gesturing towards Darrell to start talking.

"Well hi there wonderful Heath!" Shouted Darrell at the phone, really there was no need to shout, the idiot.

"What do you want to talk to me for?" Heath growled back down the phone. Heath had never actually forgiven Darrell for the knife incident, and he really didn't trust Darrell around me.

"Why the hostility? I just want to give you an offer that you can't refuse!"

"And what kind of offer would that be?"

"Well, you want my sister to come visit this weekend? I want to meet you. You want to meet me. And our dear Kathy can't afford it..."

"And how are you gonna sort that?" Heath bit back at Darrell, you could feel Heath's hatred radiating from the phone, the only other time I'd seen Heath this angry was when Joel had accidentally elbowed me in the face, when I was trying to stop him fighting with some random guy.

"Well if you had let me finish, I was basically going to propose that I drive Kathy down this weekend, and come pick her up at the end of the weekend?" There was silence for a few seconds. A full minute passed by before Heath spoke again.
