Every day was much the same for the next week, except some days we worked on flyball instead of agility. My girl went to her lessons throughout the day, so Breeze and I continued our daily training sessions. We made a deal; I helped her with agility and she helped me with my flyball turns. Under each other's tuition, we both flourished in the two sports.
I was told by Breeze that our actual lessons would begin at the start of next week, after the girls had finished school. We each had 5 disciplines to receive training in: 2 main courses and 3 sub courses. I was doing agility (obviously) and flyball as my main, and heelwork to music/canine freestyle, sheepdog training and movie training as my subs. Breeze was in all my classes as Lily had chosen the same disciplines as my girl.
The weekend finally arrived; it had been a long week. Lily and my girl decided to take Breeze and I to the dog park today so we could make some new friends (my girl and I, not Lily and Breeze because they already knew most of the people here). My lead was clipped onto my harness and the four of us left the room.
We exited our dorm building into a momentarily blinding light. The sun was out and it was going to be a lovely day. By the time we reached the gate, the dog park was absolutely packed with dogs. It was quite overwhelming!
As soon as the gate was closed behind us, Breeze and I were let free. I quickly turned to face my girl. "Go on boy! Go have some fun!" She smiled. Breeze nudged my shoulder and ran off playfully; the games had officially begun! After shaking out my fur, I ran off after Breeze, my tongue lolling out the side of my mouth and streaming behind me as I ran. Then I caught sight of her.
I was about to charge toward her when I realised I would never be able to catch her that way. I had to be clever about this. I needed a plan! Scanning the nearby area, I saw a tree relatively close to where Breeze had stopped. If I ran out wide, I could use the tree as a cover to sneak up to her. I began to put my plan into action.
After running a large semi-circle around the rock Breeze was sat on, I crept up and sat behind the tree to plan my next move. 'Since when did tag become such a serious game?' I murmured to myself. It was still great fun though! The next part of my plan involved me crawling up behind Breeze, tagging her on the shoulder, and using my newly learnt turning technique, running as fast as possible away from her.
I lay down on the warm grass and began to crawl as silently as possible toward Breeze. I could barely contain my excitement! Every step I took, my excitement grew. When I was about 5 strides away from where Breeze was sat, I prepared myself, getting ready to pounce.
I slowly rocked my body weight onto my back legs and used the power in my legs to propel myself forward. I jumped on top of Breeze; a gasp audible from her direction as I startled her. "You're it!!" I announced before sprinting off in the other direction just like I had planned. I felt her gaze digging into my back as l ran off, followed shortly by the sound of running feet. 'Catch me if you can!' I thought to myself, a smile forming in the corners of my mouth.

We left the park hours later, exhausted but happy. The girls had met up with some of their friends and made a picnic of our outing. I was happy for her. Breeze introduced me to some of the dogs that would be in our agility classes next week and I made lots of other friends too. I really was loving this school!
When we returned to our room, Breeze and I ate our dinner and lay down on the chair together. We were becoming really close and the change in Breeze was noticeable. She was comfortable around me for one, telling me her problems, fears and ambitions as if she has known me for years. I too was able to tell her about me.
We talked for a while about what the school would be like once it started properly tomorrow. Breeze told me that my girl would be really busy with a mountain of work so our time together would probably be limited. I just nodded, quite distraught at the thought of not spending time with my girl.
It was too late now though. Tomorrow, I thought. Tomorrow, everything changes.
