( Surprise! A certain someone gave me the idea to write a completely serious, revised version of Grocery Gang x Reader. As I said in the "Thank you" afterword, Grocery Gang x Reader was not serious, nor was the writing. And yes, the plot will actually be well written this time... I am so sorry for messing with you all for so long. I will update this story frequently, as it is pre-written. So as one final bow, here it is.)

Grocery Gang x Reader

Chapter One

You had recently been unemployed after giving your last boss a pleasant piece of your mind. Nothing major, really. Just a little yelling, and a fist fight. Anyway, job hunting had been a nightmare. Quite literally. It seemed everyone in the world was out to get you.

But today was the day to end all cases.

You walked along the sidewalk, the air feeling stiff. You breathed in, the air froze your lungs. You breathed back out. The sky was cloudy today. Mostly gray; today felt that way too. There was an idea of your last place to act for work, but you weren't looking forward to it in the slightest. Arriving at your final destination, you looked up to read the sign,

"Amazook".

This was the nightmare.

From what you've heard, a bunch of nutcases work here and move boxes around. Amazook sounded a bit like Amazon... 'Have they not faced copyright yet?' You wondered to yourself. What was more undesirable about this place was what you've heard about the people who work here.

Firstly, the boss: Amazook. Naming a business after yourself seemed selfish in itself. You couldn't imagine calling your company (if you had one) by your own name. That really just wasn't your cup of tea. Why not refer to it as something creative? Then there were other rumors, nothing too specific in fact, names weren't even mentioned. Mostly just that they were oddballs who weren't very social with those they didn't have to be associated with. That was that.

You made the dreaded step through the double doors into the facility. It smelt of cardboard and dust inside, making the air seem stale and old. It wasn't awful; it just smelt similar to a library. Tall metal industrial shelves were lined to the ceiling with boxes. Labels were duct-taped all over various boxes, names and addresses were written messily in permanent marker. A few lights hung from the ceiling, the building was dim. You caught sight of a room near the back wall. "Employees Only!" The sign read. To your surprise, there was no commotion in the facility. Was no one here?

From behind, you felt a hand tap your shoulder. You swore you'd never turned around quicker in your life.

"I'm sorry for startling you, everyone is on lunch break."

The man behind you was gravely pale, almost paper white. That you already saw when he touched your shoulder. He wore a gray suit with a pink bowtie tied to his shirt collar and a strange hat that appeared to be metal. Attached to said hat were dark blue orbs. They reflected in the light in a way that made the reflections dance. He certainly had a style.

You finally grasped what he said, and awkwardly stared back at him. He looked just as startled as you were.

"Oh." You said flatly. The eye contact almost made this situation funny, the way you both just stood there... Looking at each other. "Yeah, actually I was looking for a job. Is your boss around?"

He cut his eyes at the "Employees Only" room, then back at you, wearing a bored expression.

"Not here at the moment." He paused, and again nothing was said. "Come back tomorrow, I'll put in word for you."

That was easy.

"Thanks." You gave him your best smile, he gave you a half-smile back.

Timeskip

And you can guarantee that you were there the next day. You walked in again through the double doors ignoring the stale air and simply waited. You should have asked for specifics of who, where, and when. You sighed to yourself. There were employees this time (although coincidentally on lunch break again), but two in particular peaked your interest. Two people were seated at a table; the stranger from before, and a new face. They were seemingly in a heated argument over something.

"As I said," the familiar stranger started, kneading in between his eyebrows for a moment before beginning again. "There's two of us, and there are three icecream sandwiches. I want two."

"But I want two!" The newer stranger said desperately. He wore a black and red cap, and a long-sleeved black shirt and pants. The familiar looked at him irritably, as though dealing with a younger sibling. You couldn't help but giggle to yourself at their argument. All of this over icecream sandwiches? Finally, they seemed to have noticed your presence. The new stranger slammed his hands down on the table, half-arising out of his seat. "What's funny?!" He shouted angrily in your direction. You continued laughing. The familiar stranger rose out of his seat too.

"Now, now, Molotov. Calm down, they didn't mean any harm." He addressed the new stranger, who you gathered to be 'Molotov', whose shoulders and expression seemed to falter, but not his demeanor. He whisper-shouted something at the familiar that you couldn't hear, but the stranger

reluctantly nodded his head in response. He moved from the table over to you, sticking out his hand.

"I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself properly yesterday. I'm Fiddlepat." He had a little enthusiasm this time. You shook his hand without question.

"My name's Y/N, it's nice to meet you." He smiled and nodded before letting go of your hand. Molotov watched you blankly from the table.

"I wanted to ask, what made you choose to find work here?" Fiddlepat asked.

"What made you want to find work here?" You grinned. Collectively, you had already decided talking about your last job would encourage a bad impression of you. Another would be saying that this was your last hope.

Fiddlepat had obviously given up on small talk and instead decided to talk about the current status of your job.

"Well, I talked to the bossman, and he said you'll fit right in."

You couldn't help but feel overwhelmingly happy about that.

"Your training is going to start tomorrow. You got lucky, actually. You're with me."

He couldn't be more right about that.
