~Marinette's Head~

I gripped the box that held both my burden and my freedom. Being ladybug had its challenges, but I've never felt so... alive. My index finger slowly traced the ancient design on the lid. Should I really be doing this? I could tell Chat before... but he might react... I can't deal with this right now.

Alya is the perfect choice. She's smart and also one of my few friends remaining. The problem with choosing her is the fact she will stop posting on the Ladyblog. Which could lead people to be suspicious. Ultimately leading Hawkmoth straight to the miraculous of creation.

Maybe I could choose Kagami. I was initially going to choose Alya, but now that I am standing on her balcony... I'm having second thoughts.

Kagami is strong, intelligent, and her activities won't change to the point other people will notice. Then again, do I want to put this burden on her? Her mother already treats her as if she's not good enough.

As I continued to think, the sound of a door opening behind me erupted my train of thought. I wiped around to be faced with Alya.

"Who are you?!" Alya asked cautiously while still sounding confident.

"It's me Ladybug, I'm just using the Dragon Miraculous for the time being."

"How do I know you're not lying?" Alya remarked back, putting her hands on her hips. A power pose... she was trying to make it seem she was confident, though that particular power pose didn't last very long.

I clutched the box in my hand, slowly bringing it to eye level. I opened it to show the Ladybug earrings then I quickly shut the box and soon as recognition dawned on her face.

"Oh wow! Ladybug what are you doing here? Why are you incognito? Are you on a secret mission to find Hawkmoth and have to stay up to search for clues without Hawkmoth knowing, just like this last Sunday?" Alya quickly shot question after question at me. Her inner journalist shinning forth and I scrambled to prosses all she was saying.

"Alya calm down, the information you seek can't be discussed, I am sorry, I was just resting on your balcony. I will leave now, so I don't bother you anymore." I interrupted her questions attack, then turned around and leapt off her balcony. I should have said sorry, it was rude of me to leave so abruptly.

Alya would not be an ideal choice, she's too connected to the Ladyblog. Less posting on her side would be extremely suspicious.

As much as I hate to do this is Kagami. She is the right choice. She's strong, smart, strategic, and more. No wonder Adrien fell in love with her. No one would look twice at old clumsy me. The beaming glory of Ladybug was cloaked under the insecure and imperfections of Marinette.

I slightly chuckled to myself. For so long I tried to grab the attention of Adrien's heart. Unwilling to see the reality. Adrien was the diamond, perfect in every way. I was the dirt and rubble that hid the diamonds beauty. His reputation would be tarnished if we became a reality. Imagine on the news, teen model Adrien Agreste's new girlfriend is the baker's daughter.

Even if it could be possible, Adrien's dad will never allow it. My thoughts continued to plague me as I ran across buildings.

Soon I came upon Kagami's mansion. At least it was a mansion compared to my small house. Something else she had, that I could never. I never been in her house... should be easy enough to navigate.

I slipped inside through a slightly ajar window. I landed softly on the wood floor. I was in a hallway.

I started to explore, slowly creeping along the wall. Did Kagami have guards? I wouldn't be surprised; her mother is incredibly watchful of her.

Soon I came upon a door that was closed but had light illuminating from the crack on the ground and around the edges of the door. I could hear someone pacing the hard wood floor, eventually coming to a stop but would continue after the short pause.

I held my breath. If this wasn't Kagami's room, I would probably get in huge trouble for breaking and entering.

A voice came and I instantly knew it wasn't Kagami's. "Mr. Agreste your being unreasonable. I think all those years locked inside your house is getting to your head." There was a pause. "The legend of the Phoenix is just a legend. An old prophecy, I highly doubt it would come to pass."

Again, there was a pause. "Yes, I am well aware of the magic being displayed nowadays. But Chinese myths do not correspond with what is happing now. And even if the myth was somehow true, I doubt it will come to pass in our time. It most likely happened back in time."

Why is Mr. Agreste asking about Chinese myths? Also why was Kagami's mother talking to him about it. I didn't think she would be one to believe in such things. I always saw her as a serious grumpy lady.

"I don't care about that. Besides if you are running after superstition, then I should be questioning your sanity Mr. Agreste.!" With that I heard a small bump, most likely her setting the phone or other device down. Her shadow passed the door and I quickly backed away.

Not only am I breaking and entering, I'm also eve's dropping on other people's conversations.

I quickly walked away while trying to make as little noise as possible.

A while later, and after many other rooms being searched, I came upon another room with the light on. I strained my ears for any noise on the other side.

After a couple minutes with no sound, I slowly opened the door. Only to be faced with Kagami, in her PJ's.

~ Gabriel/Hawkmoth's Head~

Dammit. Mrs. Tsurugi refused to give me any information. It would seem I will have to do my own research.

"Nooroo, are you sure about what you told me?"

The small purple god came flying out of his hiding spot. He nervously ran his two hands over each other. "Yes Master. I am sure what I felt was the energy of Tikki and Plagg combined."

"So why isn't Ladybug in a super powerful suit making wishes?"

"I don't think this was Plagg's and Tikki's miraculous being combined Master."

"So, the legend could be true. But why now? Why hasn't Ladybug and Chat Noir caught on?" I asked myself with venom on the tip of my tongue.

"I do not know Master."
