"Hey, Marcie, It's me."

The morning had been going so well, considering the circumstances. It had been a week since I began official training to become inducted into the Night Blood Pack, and the Big 5 was finally convening today at the Committee.

I had just tripped out of the shower, hearing my phone blaring my notorious Marimba remix ringtone. I almost ate the tile floor while I was wrapping a towel around me and managed to pick up my phone on the last ring.

"D-Dad?" I stammered, hitching my towel up higher. My heart seemed to go still, and I could see my face draining of color in the foggy mirror. "W-Where are you?"

"I stopped keeping track of the signs after Vegas," He sighed, his voice worn and exhausted. "How are you doing, baby doll?"

"Dad, go home! Please, goddess, just go home!" I plead, sitting on the toilet as I cradled my head with one hand. "I know everything, Donovan finally told me, and I'm not mad."

"So things with the Alpha are going well? I'm glad to hear that," He chuckled, and I could hear the tell tale sign of a big rig blasting through the background. "He told you?"

"Yes, it was Alpha Daniel behind it all. You don't have to stay gone any longer. I'm not mad at you, so please-,"

"I'm not going back, Marcel."

His response almost caused me to drop the phone, and I tightened my grip just as I felt it slip.

"Dad?" I whispered. "Why?"

"I can't be around Daniel anymore. I just can't. I put up with this for so long. I've just reached my breaking point."

"Dad, no, you can't leave! It's not safe!" I objected. "Any pack will latch on to your scent like a rogue-!"

"Marcel, your mother and I took great pride raising you and your brother. You didn't deserve to be treated the way you were, and neither does Gray."

"Just come here! Join Night Blood!" I sputtered. "You and Gray both can!"

"Marcel..."

"Dad, please, just think about it!" I begged, feeling the tears burn into my eyes. "Just promise me you'll consider it."

I heard him sigh, a long silence following.

"I'll think about it, sweetheart. I just need some time to organize my thoughts."

"W-Will you keep in touch?" I asked hopefully and heard a low rumble.

"I don't see any reason to hide from you with everything out in the open. I'll call again soon, Marcie."
