Alex POV

I walk into the garage with my teammates.

Mr. H shot us a group text informing us his best friends daughter was going to be hanging out with us this weekend. He also told us to protect her and watch her if we could.

As I walked in I saw this beautiful girl standing behind him.

He greeted us and introduced us.

As she took a call the guys all hit my chest whispering a combo of 'man', 'dude', and 'look at her'.

I recently broke up with my long term girlfriend. I mentioned to the guys that I was ready to date again, but wanted to find a girl who wouldn't hurt me.

"Now, now. Settle down guys. She has a lot going on in her personal life. She isn't here for a boyfriend. Our job is to show her a good race and convince her to stay the summer here. It would be best for her."

The guys stopped harassing me, but they still were smirking still wanting me to make the shot. We went over team details for this weekend and we began to all walk out.

"Bowman, I need you to run her back to the hotel. I feel like you have the best chance of getting her to open up and enjoy her time here. But, no funny business."

I laugh at the thought of Mr. H thinking 'funny business' was appropriate.

I nod in agreement and he slides me her room key.

"Thank you. I trust you'll keep her safe."

I walk out and we discuss the riding arrangements with her. She agrees, but I can tell she's nervous about it.

"Alex. Alex Bowman." I turn to shake her hand.

She smiles the most genuine smile I've seen from anyone in a long time.

She wasn't star struck. She wasn't wanting something from me. She was actually happy to meet me.

 "RaeAnn. RaeAnn Austin."

We shake hands and I open the door so she can hop in.

As I climb in I try to break the ice. "Even though I race, I'm a good driver."

"Thank God. I was afraid I wouldn't make it back to the hotel in one piece."

That smile she just sent my way melted me.

Ok that's dumb for a guy to say. She is beautiful.

We drive in silence. I want to ask her about her life. But I don't want to poke into something and make her uncomfortable.

We make it up to the rooms and I get her into hers assuring that the door shut behind her.

I get to my room and search through my bag finding my computer. I want to see what the schedule looks like for the next few weeks. I know there are a few press deals I need to look over before next week.

As soon as I sit at the small desk provided a knock echo's through my room. I look out the peephole and see RaeAnn standing at my door. I open it making sure I don't scare her.

"Hey I'm so sorry to bother you. I just realized I have no clue what time anything is. Do you know?"

"Not a bother at all! Come in I think I have it printed off." I lay out my racing binder and turn to the schedule for this weekend.

"Do you mind if I get a picture of this?" I shake my head no moving aside so she can get a good angle.

"Thank you. Mr. H was going to send it to me but I think he got busy."

"Probably. One of the busiest men I know."

She lets out a small laugh and looks up at me.

Her eyes.

The smile she carries doesn't reach them.

"Thank you again. I think I can finally go lay down without having to worry about if ill be late."

I smile back. "Well I would make sure you weren't late. But, I'm glad you know now."

She turns to leave the room and I follow her into the hallway.

She nods remembering.

"Mr. H's orders" We say in unison.

I watch her walk back to her room and hear the door shut. Gosh she is so beautiful.

But, I'm not ready for anything serious. And neither is she.
