Serene. It's all I could feel right now. We are sitting on the lakeside with me wrapped in his arms like a baby. It's so tranquil here, the only thing I could hear is birds, crickets and his heartbeat.
I realised now, how much I missed him in these years. It feels soo much nostalgia, snuggling to him hearing the melody of his heartbeats, just us and nature. I just can't be more grateful to God, for reuniting us. For, offering us a second chance. For, giving him back to me. I had always loved him and once again I'm falling in love with him, whether I admit it or not. He's all I have ever known love to be. The only thing I'm afraid of is losing him again. Just thinking about it rips my heart, it was so difficult, him being in front of my eyes but me being not able to feel him. I just want to clutch him between my arms forever. Don't know why suddenly I'm feeling like this, but all I know is I just can't leave without him.
"Naira" I snapped out of my thoughts hearing him. I lessened my grip on him, looking up at him. That's when I realised my eyes were watery and cheeks moist. I turned my gaze down before he notices my tears.
"Heyy bachha! what happened? why are you crying?" Too late I guess.
"No, I'm not." My voice lingered in the end.
"Here! Look at me!" He lifted my chin with fingers, before wiping my cheeks with his sleeve. "Now tell me what were you thinking? You suddenly started clutching me more and more tightly every passing second."
I looked away from him. "N-nothing"
"Naira," He sighed before pulling me in a hug. "Please bachha tell me whatever it is, don't suffer alone."
"I-I love you."
"Huh? Nai-" I cut him off. "I missed you Kartik. I-I missed you very very much." I don't know what happened to me, I just started crying hysterically clutching onto him again.
"Shhh Naira, it's okay I have got you. Now I'm here with you okay? Please don't cry. I'm here only." He said softly, rubbing my back and kissing the side of my head occasionally.
"Naira." He said after some time when he found me calm. I looked up at him. "I brought you here to have a pleasant time with you, not to make you cry. So please don't get gloomy. I know you don't want to talk about what just happened, but if you want to tell me anything I'm all ears okay?" He spoke soothingly, holding the side of my face with his hand.
"No it's not like that, I know I just blurted it out in the heat of the moment but I meant it, each and every word. Just don't go away from me again." I leaned on his lap, hiding my face in the crook of his neck.
He pressed a deep kiss on my forehead. "I missed you too babe, a lot more than you could guess. I'm here only okay? I'm here only."
I guess am not going to hear those three magical words from him ever. He never said it back to me, whenever I said I love him he would either change the topic or he'll say 'I know.' I never forced him to say it back, but atleast he should tell me why he keeps doing this; 'not saying it back but acting like he's in love'. Nevermind.
He continued rubbing my back smoothly before he pulled me out of his embrace and shot up.
"Come, I'll show you something." He held his hand out for me, grabbing it I stood up. He took me to the shoreline of the lake and knelt down patting the spot beside him. I sat mirroring his position. He pointed his finger at the group of tiny fishes dancing around.

They were so tiny and delicate, that I think they'll get hurt if I touch them. We sat there for a few minutes looking at them playing around, swimming in circles. When I looked up at him, I found him staring at me with a lazy smile. I arched an eyebrow at him, he just shooked his head and kissed my cheek. Then he left my hand and bend to the water, placing his hands forming the bowl shape. After a few seconds, he took his hand back.
"Hey, don't. Don't do that she'll die!" I shrieked. He actually took a fish in his hands.
"Chill!! nothing will happen. It's still in the water only, just in my hands. Look she's alright."

I looked properly, she moving in his hands naturally. I played her with my fingers for a few seconds before he left her back into the lake. He turned to look at me and kissed me hard on my cheeks then hugged me sideways.
He looked down at me with a soft gaze. "Want to head back?"
I nodded. "Yeah, by the time we reach there, our parents will be back too."
"Let's Go, then." He stood up pulling me up with him. And he drove back to my office, from where I took my car and we made our way back to our houses.
I know it's a short chapter compared to others, but I just can't leave it half-done. Anyways a cliffhanger awaits you in the next chapter😋. Till then see yaa🤗.
