Naira's POV:
I stepped inside McDonald's after pushing the glass door open. Looking around it to find a familiar face, I spotted him typing over his phone. I walked over before knocking on the table to drive his attention.
"Hello, mister!"
"Oh, hi."
He stood up, putting his phone on the table and hugged me before kissing my forehead.
"My princess is looking pretty."
"Thank you," I mumbled against his chest.
After breaking the hug, he pulled the chair for me and gestured me to sit.
"Chivalry isn't dead, I see," I said, smirking at him. He laughed at it, getting back to his chair. I put my clutch and sunnies on the table and then took a seat.
"I ordered your usuals, okay?"
"Yeah" I nodded at him. We sat in silence for a few minutes before I broke it.
"So..." I trailed off, looking questioningly at him.
"So??" He asked raising an eyebrow.
"Kya haal chaal Armaan sahab?" I asked with a smile.
"Bas kuch khaas nhi, ghar se job, aur job se ghar. Wahi purani ghisi piti life." He sighed.
"Mr. Armaan ki life itni boring? Manne mein nhi aata." I said dramatically.
"Ab kya kare? yahi sach hain." He shrugged.
"What about weekends?" I asked.
"I end up in bed almost every weekend. Because working the entire week on the screen, that too in the same posture makes my body stiff. Someday I go to clubs, parties, but they are not as good as our college days anymore. Sometimes I visit my parents, but then they always bring up my marriage related things. And so I choose to stay on my own." He let out a frustrated sigh.
"Your marriage? I mean abhi se?" He opened his mouth to answer but got interrupted by the call to receive orders.
"Mein order leke aata hu." He rose and went to the counter, came back with two trays in his hands. Before sitting down, he placed the tray holding my food to my side and another on his side.
"How's everything going on with Kartik?" He asked, trying to divert the topic.
Like, am going to buy his shit!
"Don't change the topic." I rolled my eyes before digging into my food. Whenever we come here, we order the same every time. It's like our thing.
He orders 'Spicy Premium Burger' and 'Iced Americano' for himself. And I do, 'Cheese Lava American Burger' and 'Mud Pie' for myself. And Fries, of course. Only an inhuman can step out of McDonald's without having fries.
"They believe now that I'm settled. I should marry someone or else it'll be difficult to get a girl with good qualities once my age passes out. Fucking orthodoxy!" He rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Do you have any girl in your head?" I asked, trying to open the pack of ketchup.
"Yeah, I've one." He nodded, taking the pack from me, "But I don't expect her to feel anything for me, and I can't tell my feelings to her either." He spoke nonchalantly, handing it back to me after opening it successfully. I thought of asking about the girl, but decided the other way. When he's ready to tell, I know I'll be the first person.
"Do you have anything to lose?" I asked, looking straight at him, putting my burger back.
"Means?" He gave a confused expression.
