P.S I assumed the love interest was male because of swordsman, but I can always do a genderbent version of this chapter if I got the gender wrong.

Third P.O.V

"That was an awesome competition!"

Jolly laughter and shouting was coming from a small bar.

Inside was magicians and swordsman getting drunk after the annual combat competition.

"I still can't believe you got third place (Y/N)!"

One magician said to his friend.

"Yeah! No magician has ever gotten that far before!"

Said another. (Y/N) just shrugged.

"I'm just that good-"

"Well, aren't you arrogant!"

(Y/N)'s friend teasingly cut them off. (Y/N) smacked their friend on the head.

"You didn't let me finish!"

(Y/N) hissed.

"I was saying 'I'm just that good at using magic', magic isn't something you can master in a day."

(Y/N) glared at their friend who sweatdropped.

"Anyway! Did you see who won the competition? A swordsman named Kade... You know what, I don't think he has a last name."

"Ohhhh he's an orphan."

"I wouldn't want him as my child, he hasn't smiled once today. Even when he won the competition!"

"He gives me the creeps. I had to fight him, and he just had a blank look on his face the whole time."

"Did you hear his nickname? 'The soulless swordsman'. Fits someone with that cold appearance."

Out of the corner of their eyes, (Y/N) saw someone flinch. (Y/N) stood up and addressed the gossiping group of magicians and swordsmen alike.

"Enough talk! Let's toast to all the competitors who fought today!"

The gossip was soon forgotten and everyone was chugging down their drinks.

(Y/N) saw the person who flinched earlier leaving and followed them outside.

"Hey you're Kade, right?"

The person turned around and (Y/N) got a chance to look at him.

Gray eyes, wild short red hair, athletic build. It was probably good he didn't smile, otherwise he'd be a lady-killer.

"I am."

Kade answered (Y/N)'s previous question.

"Just to let you know, don't listen to them. You won that competition fair and square, they have no reason to question your personal business. Personally, I respect that you don't show your emotions. Being mysterious seems to be one of your charms."
