I walked into the precinct with my head high. Making all the other detectives think I was on the right track with the case. But in reality, I had no idea what the hell I was doing. All my leads lead me back to the beginning. It was frustrating and embarrassing that after all of the clues and leads I still had nothing on the case. I went to see Castle because maybe he could help me. He always had the best stories. Just like he always said "there is always a story, we just have to find it" and that was kinda his specialty since he was a famous crime writer. Well not as famous as Patteson, but he was getting there. I knocked on his door and could almost feel the butterflies in my stomach just hearing his footsteps getting closer. He opened the door and with a gesturing hand he led me to his living room while he went to the kitchen to make us a cup of coffee (he makes the best coffee in the world.) What brings you here Kate? '' he asked with his rich man voice, teasingly because he knew I hated it. I started to complain about my case hoping he would be able to put some pieces together, from this huge puzzle of a case, I had been working on. "Kate," he said with a soft yet serious voice "what" I answered hoping he had cracked the case. "Kate you have to stop" stop what do you mean by stop I asked him curiously but scared for his answer. "You gotta stop kate they will end up killing you." "Castle this is my mom's case. I can't just let it go. Whoever killed my mom is still out there, and I can't find peace before that motherfucker is behind bars." I said in a deep yet high-pitched voice, meaning every single word of it.

I turned towards the door to leave in frustration. He knew how much this case meant to me how could he even say such a thing. "Rick I would rather die knowing who killed her. Then live without the slightest idea about why it happened or who did it."

she grabbed for the doorknob ready to leave, I knew this would probably be my last chance to stop her. Maybe even the last time I would ever see her alive. "kate don't do this I can't risk losing a person I love." She looked back at me shocked over my choice of words even I was a bit stunned. Kate looked me in the eyes and in a calm tone she said "too bad" and out the door, she disappeared.
