~Diagon Alley: 1990
Floella POV
Ems, Polaris, Serpens, Aster, and I walk into Ollivanders. The wand maker in question appears from behind a shelf, I smile at him, and he notices Ems and I. "Ah, Miss Floella, beech with a dragon heartstring, 9 1/4 inches, swishy if I remember correct." He says.
I nod, "And Miss Emily, elm with a unicorn hair, thirteen and a three-quarters, springy?" Ollivander says, and Ems nods. "Is this Mr. Ollivander, Aunty Flow, Aunty Emily?" Polaris asks, I nod.
Ollivander looks at the triplets, "Ah, Miss Polaris, Mr. Serpens, Mr. Aster, yes, yes. I thought I'd be seeing you soon, Miss Polaris, Mr. Serpens, Mr. Aster." He says, "You have your mother's beauty. It seems only yesterday she was in here herself, buying her first wand. Ten inches long, nice and supple, made of rowan with a phoenix tail feather." He says.
"Your father, on the other hand, favored a yew wand with a dragon heartstring core. Twelve inches. Pliable." Ollivander says, Alex has kept Sirius' wand with her, who's wand was the brother to Hunter's wand.
"Your father and uncle's wands were brothers, a heartstring plucked from the same male dragon." Ollivander says, "Well, I say your father favored it—it's really the wand that chooses the wizard, of course." Ollivander adds.
"Which are your wand arms?" He asks, "Um, I'm right-handed." Aster and Polaris say together, "Um, I'm left-handed." Serpens says. Ollivander started measuring them from shoulder to finger, then wrist to elbow, shoulder to floor, knee to armpit and round their heads. All three look at him weirdly, while he measuring, he started to talk. "Every Ollivander wand has a core of a powerful magical substance, young ones. We use unicorn hairs, phoenix tail feathers, and the heartstrings of dragons. No two Ollivander wands are the same, just as no two unicorns, dragons, or phoenixes are quite the same. And of course, you will never get such good results with another wizard's wand." He explains.
All three look cross eyed at the tape measure measuring between their nostrils, they then take notice of Ollivander moving around his shop, and taking down boxes. Those held the wands, "That will do." He says, and the tape measure crumpled into a heap on the floor.
"Who is the oldest?" Ollivander asks, Polaris raises her hand, "Come forward, Miss Polaris. Try this one. Aspen and unicorn hair. 13 3/4 inches. Springy. Just take it and give it a wave." He says while handing her a wand.
Polaris takes the wand, and probably feeling a bit foolish, she waved it around a bit. Ollivander snatched it out of her hand almost at once, "Cherry and phoenix feather. 11 inches. Quite whippy. Try it." He says, and she tried, but she had hardly raised the wand when it, too, was snatched back by Ollivander.
"No, no—here, elm and dragon heartstring, eleven inches, rather flowy. Go on, go on, try it out." He says, and she did, he took it back almost instantly. Ollivander seems to think for a second, before going to grab a wand.
"A rather unusual combination, pear and thunderbird tail feather, ten and one-quarter inches, rather supple." He says, and hands her the wand, and she take it. I notice Polaris' face, and I smile, she found her wand.
Ollivander stares at her in curiosity, "How curious.." He says, before going for the next kid. "Who's the next oldest?" He asks, Serpens raises his hand, "Come forward, Mr. Serpens. Try this one. Black walnut and unicorn hair. 11 3/4 inches. Springy. Just take it and give it a wave." He says while handing him a wand.
Serpens takes the wand, and probably feeling a bit foolish, he waved it around a bit. Ollivander snatched it out of his hand almost at once, "Ebony and phoenix feather. 13 inches. Quite whippy. Try it." He says, and he tried, but he had hardly raised the wand when it, too, was snatched back by Ollivander.
"No, no—here, hawthorn and dragon heartstring, ten inches, rather flowy. Go on, go on, try it out." He says, and he did, he took it back almost instantly. Ollivander seems to think for a second, before going to grab a wand.
"A rather unusual combination, holly and thestral tail hair, twelve and two-quarter inches, rather pliable." He says, and hands him the wand, and he takes it. I notice Serpens' face, and I smile, he found his wand.
Ollivander stares at him in curiosity, "How curious.." He says, before going for the next kid. "Who's the last?" He asks, Aster raises his hand, "Come forward, Mr. Aster. Try this one. Hazel and unicorn hair. 10 3/4 inches. Springy. Just take it and give it a wave." He says while handing him a wand.
Aster takes the wand, and probably feeling a bit foolish, he waved it around a bit. Ollivander snatched it out of his hand almost at once, "Hornbeam and phoenix feather. 12 inches. Quite whippy. Try it." He says, and he tried, but he had hardly raised the wand when it, too, was snatched back by Ollivander.
"No, no—here, maple and dragon heartstring, eleven inches, rather flowy. Go on, go on, try it out." He says, and he did, he took it back almost instantly. Ollivander seems to think for a second, before going to grab a wand.
"A rather odd combination in my opinion, laurel and unicorn tail hair, nine and three-quarter inches, rather pliable." He says, and hands him the wand, and he takes it. I notice Aster's face, and I smile, he found his wand.
