Chapter 6: Battle Stations

I walk in David's office without knocking. Brandy had called today to check messages and told the receptionist to expect her in tomorrow. He was standing against the front of his desk on the phone. Seeing me he smiled and ended the call.

"Mrs. Lawrence, the look on your face tells me you already know Brandy will be here tomorrow. Please don't be concerned. I am terminating her contract tomorrow."

"That is exactly why I am here. Please do not compromise everything we own to get even with this woman. If you terminate her contract she is going to hit you with a sexual harassment law suit. We must be very careful. Professional behavior must rule the day. Act like your normal self. Do not spend time alone with her."

He nods and looks at me with sad eyes. "I am so sorry you have to deal with this   woman. Quiana. I can never thank you enough for standing with me so I don't make a bigger mistake."

"David, we are still a team. All of our hard work is part of our children's inheritance. We must block any routes she may try to take from now on." I stand and walk quickly and lean against him as I kiss him deeply. He hesitates for a minute then a growl escapes from deep in his chest. His arms tightens as he pulls me tightly against him. Within another minute he pushes me away and leans down on his desk in obvious pain. I smile as his arm moves to his groin area. A deep moan is heard as he tries to straighten up. I smile again, pat him on his back and rush back to my office.

"Hey Sis" greets my brother as I open my office door.

"Can I see you as soon as you get a chance/" I smile at his happy face.

"How about now but I only have about ten minutes."

Walking into my office I reach for a file on my desk. Handing Jeremy the folder I make my request known. "I need an in debt investigation on Brandy. I am especially interested in previous relationships with employers or persons she has had a contract agreement with."

"Are you smelling a rat, Sis."

"I think you are going to find a pattern of behavior that involves Brandy and former employers or contractors. By the end of the month I will know what her schemes are about and how she plans to scam us."

"I'm on it. I will not check in until I have some answers. May be out of town for a couple of days." My brother stands and hugs me then he heads out the door.

I spent the next couple of hours with Pauline planning a very special event at our center. We designed an invitation for an open house for our center. A back-dated staff notice was sent to all departments and a PSA was emailed to the media.
