Chapter 9—Together Again

The vampire decided to perform the sacrificial ceremony outside due to the many vampires who chose to show up.

Tonight, many clans came together to hopefully witness the end of a tradition.

The Ash Clan and Moon Clan stood together. Once being a united clan, ruled by two brothers, they all had to watch one of their former masters be sacrificed.

It was the end of Master Circo’s eternal life and eternal reign.

Scarlet would be honored as the bravest sacrifice of all.

Master Circo was chained to a table.

“This is wrong. How could all of you betray me like this?”

“All of the people here tonight understand that this must be done,” Master Slayer replied.

Gia turned to the crowd. “We assume that you all somewhat approve of the happenings tonight.”

Everyone nodded.

“Tonight, we will sacrifice the originals. Master Kiernan and Aurora produced the first halfling in vampire history. During this ceremony, we hope to end the centennial human sacrifices in order to become an even more civil group of creatures. As eternal ones, we shall thrive as peaceful beings,” Master Slayer announced.

“My father shall perform the sacrifices,” Pierce added.

“And we shall all take part in the last drinking of the cursed blood,” Livia said.

“Does everyone have a vial?” Mitrik asked.

Everyone held up their arms to show their personal vials.

“Excellent. Now, allow me to summon our other Sacrifice, the honorable Aurora, or shall I say…Scarlet,” Master Slayer.

I was waiting by the doorway with her.

“That’s our cue,” I said, “It’s time.”

She took a deep breath, and I followed behind her.

Everyone clapped, and she gave them all a warm smile.

“Ah, our lovely sacrifice followed by Hazel Amor. Of course, I assume most of you have heard of her.”

Many vampires applauded for me as well.

“Wow, you’re quite the mini-celebrity among the eternal ones,” Scarlet whispered to me.

“I had no idea,” I admitted.

She walked up the table next to Master Circo.

For once, he looked calm.

“We’re together again, Aurora. Who knew that we’d both come to an end together.”

“Kiernan, it’s over,” she replied, lying on the table.

Master Slayer chained her down as I stood next to Mitrik. Maeve and Don were inside, away from the ceremony as planned.

“I am so glad Don isn’t here to see this, and I don’t think I could forgive myself if I forced my best friend to watch. They’ve already gone through enough because of me,” I told Mitrik.

He laced our fingers together and replied, “Don’t be so hard on yourself. This is all going to be over soon.”

Master Circo reached out his chained arm to Scarlet, and she willingly held his hand.

“I’ve always loved you,” he told her. “And I’m sorry.”

“Sorry for turning into a dictatorial monster, sorry for giving up our child to be killed, or sorry for never looking for me?”
