Chapter 10-Eternal Love {Finale}

It was early morning. I watched as Don slept peacefully in a warm bed. I still had bad thoughts about what it must have been like for my daughter to be a prisoner of Master Circo. Now, it was all over. The monster was gone.

Mitrik walked into the bedroom and gave me a quick kiss. "Did you even go to sleep last night?" he asked me.

"Not really, but surprisingly, I'm not too tired."

"It's the vampire side of you, Little Miss Halfling," he commented.

"Yeah..."

"So, have you thought about...you know?"

"Actually, I have. And I realized that I can't have Don be turned at such a young age. She needs to be able to live a normal life for a little while longer."

"I understand. So, I guess you'd be going back home with Don and Maeve. We'd be apart for who knows how many more years. I'll come and visit, I promise."

"Mitrik, that's not what I meant. I don't want our family to be split up again. I had an idea."

"I'm listening..."

"Well, what if we let Don decide? We wait until her eighteenth birthday, and she can choose if she wants to be an eternal one. She can wait until she's twenty-one or older, and if she gets sick of being a human, she can be turned. She would also have the option of being turned immediately or not at all. But for right now, I need to keep her as human as possible. She needs to experience life from both sides; that's what she deserves, in my opinion. We'll go wherever the clan goes. We'll move if we have to. When Don is a bit older, and she gets tired of moving, I'm sure Maeve would be willing to take her in. We'd make sure to pop up whenever we can."

"I would agree with that. It gives our daughter a matter of freedom. That's all anyone could ever ask for.

"Good, that covers our plan for Don," I said.

"But that still leaves you."

"Mitrik, I've made my decision."

"Let me guess, you've decided to remain human. I get it. From the very first day I met you, I always thought that it was evident that you loved being human."

"I do love being human."

"See, just as I suspected."

"But..." I paused for a moment.

"But what?" he questioned.

"I love being human, but I love you more."

"What are you trying to say?" he asked.

"A chance at eternal love, literally."

"Are you..."

"Yes, Mitrik, I want to be turned."

"Are you sure? I don't want you to do this just for me. I need you to be sure. This is an irreversible decision. Sometimes, I even think about going back, but I can't."

"I've lived my human life, and now, I just want to be with you. I'm doing this for you, but also for me. I love you, Mitrik, and I'm thankful for the last ten years that you allowed me to live as a somewhat normal person. But I'm ready now."

"When do you want to be turned?" he asked.

"Tonight, if that's okay with you," I replied.

"Then tonight it is," he said, pulling me into his arms.

I held him tightly. "I never want to let you go," I told him.

He chuckled.

"Why are you laughing?" I asked.
