The orphanage was always loud and noisy on Sundays. The kids were usually playing and screaming loudly, while I sat on a tree reading a fantasy novel. I've always loved reading. There was nothing for me else to do because I didn't have any friends. But I remember that one time when I was reading Shakespeare sonnets and a girl with a loving smile walked up to me.

"Hi, my name is Melanie, I'm new here" she said smiling to me. I noticed that she wasn't like the other kids. She was special, and quiet, which I liked. "Hi, I'm Viola" I said while looking into her loving blue eyes.

We talked for a bit and my eyes opened wide when she told me she loved reading too." I've got plenty of books" I said while pulling her by the arm to my room. That day, I met my best friend. She was so joyful, but quiet at the same time.

Every night we would take our flashlights and read together under our blankets. One time we were so close to getting caught, but luckily, we fell asleep just in time the warden came in. Melanie had long brown hair, and blue eyes. I wish I was pretty like her.

Even though I thought I wasn't pretty , everyone always told me I look beautiful, but when the adoption day came, no one bared to touch me!

I think it was because I had a condition. It's called heterochromia and its basically when u have different color eyes.

I've lived in an orphanage as long as I can remember. I never met my parents. I never had any memories with them. I never got any friends at school. Everyone thought I was weird for having different colored eyes so they all just...ran away when I tried talking to them. But the day I met Melanie everything changed. She brought so much joy and happiness in my life.

We would walk around the park and sometimes sneak out of our rooms to go to the tree we met. We would read for hours and discuss the things we loved, liked and hated. Even though I knew she was my best friend and everything, I've noticed that we look a lot alike. But I've kept it for myself since.
