The pirate's treasure (male x female mermaid reader)

Get ready, because we're going fishing!

I slowly opened my eyes as I felt a sudden uneasy feeling. I looked around to scan the area. The only thing my eyes could find were island things like trees, plants and bushes and Coral and Pearl sleeping in the water.

I was still on the rock. I slowly got up and looked at the moon. It was very early, only 01:30.

Why would I have woken up at 01:30. I was still very tired. It must have been the uneasy feeling that had woken me up. But why do I have this feeling?

I pushed myself of the rock and dove underwater. I swam for a while till I reached the open ocean.

-Third person POV-

"There it is my friends!" the captain shouted at his crew. The crew simply stared at the normal ocean their captain was pointing at. "Errr... I don't see anything capt'n." one of the crew members said.

"Well, that's because those bloody merfolk have put a spell on it so that we mere humans cannot see it." the captain answered clearly annoyed at the doubting comment of his crew. "But how do we know it's there then?" the same crew member asked.

"Because..." the captain started and paused for a moment. He grabbed his revolver out of its holster. Without looking he pointed it at the crew member and shot. The bullet went straight through the man's head. "...the spell isn't perfect. You see, humans can't see it if they're sailing right past. But when we would touch the island, we would be able to see it." he finished his sentence with an evil smirk completely ignoring the fact he just killed a man.

"Get ready, because we're going fishing!" he shouted followed by the crew starting to cheer loudly.

-Y/N POV-

As I looked at the open ocean my eyes got huge, and I could feel all the blood being drained from my face. In front of me just about 100 meters away laid three huge ships. Pirate ships.

I didn't hesitate and immediately swam back as fast as I could to Coral and Pearl, still sleeping on the bottom of the lagoon. I aggressively woke them up.

"What the hell is wrong Y/N?!" Coral screamed annoyed. My face was still completely pale. "P-Pirates." I said and pointed towards the ocean. Pearl was now also awake and looked at me with fear in her eyes.

Coral opened her mouth to say something, but not a word came out. She simply got up and starting swimming towards the open ocean at a rapid pace. Me and Pearl quickly followed.

Coral waited for us to come to the same spot and then we all carefully rose out of the water.

We just stared at the huge ships.

"They can't see us nor the island. Our ancestors put a spell on it. There's no way they can." Coral finally spoke, but not as confident as usual. "R-right." Pearl whispered.

"But what happens if they sail right into the island?" I said anxiously pointing at the ship coming right at the island. "I don't know." Coral answered so quiet I almost couldn't hear her.

The ships were now to close for us to flee. If we did flee, we would be seen, and they would know something was there.

"I think we need to go now." I said. "If we go now, they'll see us!" Pearl said. "If we stay, they won't only see us, but also probably capture us!" Coral snapped and with that she dove under water and swam forward. "Coral!" Pearl squealed and followed her.

I looked at both of them swimming away and I knew they were right. I dove under and swam after them. Suddenly Pearl stopped and screamed. I saw the thing mermaids feared most: nets.

They were coming down rapidly and Pearls tale was stuck. I finally reached her and started pulling the net while Coral looked at us with huge eyes. "Help me get it off of her!" I yelled at her. she shook her head slowly. "I'm sorry." she said, and she swam away.

With everything happening I couldn't stop and think about what Coral just did. I pulled one last time and Pearl's tale got free. She looked at me with eyes as small as little dots. "Y/N.." she whispered.

I looked behind me and saw another net coming down and before I knew it the net was already completely down. I was stuck. The nets started to go up. I tried to swim away, but the net was already entangled with my long tale.

"I'll be fine. Don't worry." I whispered back to Pearl. But I didn't mean it. I wasn't fine. The nets were now all over my body and was starting to pull me up.

I couldn't help it. Tears started to roll out of my eyes. "Go!" I yelled shakily. Pearl squeezed her eyes shut. "I'll come and save you, Y/N!" Pearl yelled and swam away.

It wasn't long before my skin was met with cold air. My heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest any minute. I was now completely out of the water and the rope of the net was pressed painfully against my skin.

Then my chest hit a hard wooden floor and I let out a yelp. My ears were filled with cheering sounds and people laughing disturbingly. Hands started to touch me, and they got the net off me. I immediately felt very uncomfortable, but at least the nets were gone now.

Suddenly everyone got quiet, and I heard boots coming closer to me in an arrogant pace. The sound stopped and the only thing I heard now was my own heartbeat.

My hair was harshly grabbed, and my head was pulled up leaving me face to face with a man.

The man had dark brown, wavy hair, hazel eyes and didn't look any older than 22 years old. He was painfully holding my hair.

"Why hello love. I've gotten very, very lucky, not only did I capture myself a mermaid. No, I captured a beautiful one." the man said with an incredibly evil smirk. I hissed at him showing of my teeth sharpening in to dangerously pointy edges. He gently lowered my head and stepped away.

"Today my friends, is the day we make history. We are the first to have ever captured us a mermaid!" the man cheered followed with the rest of the people joining him.
