Maggie pulls me into the house "something's wrong with beth" she says. I walk in and beth is on the bed sleeping "I think shes in shock" maggie says. "Wheres hershel?" I ask. "We cant find him anywhere" Glenn says. I didnt even know he was here. "I need to talk to rick. Can you stay with her?" Maggie asks me. "Of course" I say. I sit down on the chair as she walks out. I sit there for about 5 minutes before glenn walks in "y/n do you wanna help me and rick find hershel?" He asks. "What about beth?" I ask. "Maggie's got her" he says.
I get in the backseat of the car. The ride is silent until glenn randomly says "maggie says she loves me". I smile "OH MY GOSH GLENN THATS AMAZING" I say. "Mhm" rick says. "Well I mean she dosent mean it" glenn says. "I mean she cant. Shes confused. I think shes feeling like-" "I think shes smart enough to know what shes feeling" Rick interrupts. "I think she wants to feel love so she is finding something to cling onto" he says. "Glenn its obvious that she is in love with you." I say. "So then what's the problem?" Rick asks. "I didnt say it back. I've never had a girl tell me she loved me before! Except for my mom of course and my sisters, and y/n. But with maggie its different. I mean we barely know eachother. What does she- does she even know me at all? No. We're practically strangers. But I dont know what to do with it. I just stood there like a jerk." Glenn says.
"Glenn you need to stop doubting yourself. It's a good thing. We can use good things in an apocalypse" I say. "And when we get back you say it to her. Shes not going anywhere" rick says. We pull into the town and rick stops the engine. "Rick. I know about lori. I got her the pills" glenn says. "I figured" is all rick replies while getting out. "Where was the place maggie said?" I ask. "A bar" Glenn answers while looking down the street. "Like the one we are parked in front of?" I ask as I look at a sign that says 'talmoon bar'. We walk inside and see hershel sitting at the bar.
"Hershel" rick says. "Hey rick. Y/n, Glenn. Maggie send yall?" He asks still not turning around. "They volunteered" rick says. We walk to him and rick asks "how many have you had?". "Not enough" he replies. "Let's finish this at home hershel. Please" I say. "Beth's not going good. She passed out and we think she might be in shock" I finish. "Maggie's with her?" Hershel asks. "Yes. But beth needs you" rick says. "What could I do? She needs her mother" he says. "And her father" I say.
"You thought there was a cure. It's not your fault that there isnt. That you held on to a little bit of hope" I say. "Hope? When I first saw rick running across my field with that boy, I had little hope he would survive." He says. "But he did" rick replies. "Even though we lost otis." Hershel says while looking down at his glass. "Shane came back and saved him. That was the miracle that proved miracles do exist. Only it was a sham, a bait and a switch. I was a fool. And you people saw that. My daughters deserve better than that." He says and takes a sip out of his glass.
I hear a car outside. Me and glenn walk to the window. "Just go" hershel says. "Just go!" He repeats. "I promised maggie I'd bring you home safe" Rick says. "Like you promised that little girl?" Hershel asks. Rick starts to walk closer to him "so what's your plan? Finish that bottle? Drink yourself to death and leave your daughters?". "Stop telling me how to care for my stuff! You people are like a plague!" Hershel yells while getting up. "the world was in bad shape when we met" rick says. "Rick stop" I say. We need to give hershel time. "Please guys. Is this gonna help? Beth is on a bed at home passed out and you two are fighting over this!" I yell.
"There are people at home now that need us. They need you. Beth needs you" rick says. I hear the door creak. I turn around and see two men. One of them is skinny wearing a blue shirt and Jean's. Other one is heavy set with a white tshirt and a hat. "They're alive" the blue shirt man says. They go sit down "I'm Dave" blue shirt guy says. "That guy over there is Tony." "Eat me Dave" tony replies. "Hey maybe one day I will". These guys give of weird vibes. Dave looks at me up and down "hey there" he says. "I'm 16 creep" I say. See, bad vibes.
"Tell us more about yourselves" rick says. "Why would we do that?" Tony asks. Rick just glares at him. Dave rolls his eyes and says "we met on 1-95. That place was bad". "I'm glenn. It's nice to meet some new people" he says. "Rick Grimes." "Y/n l/n" "hershel greene". Rick hands everyone drinks, except for hershel. "Dont you want one?" Dale asks. "I just quit" hershel replies. "He lost a lot of people today, a lot of them." Rick says. "I'm truly sorry to hear that" dale says. "To better days and new friends" he says while holding up his glass. We all held up our drinks and drunk them.
Dale sits up and I notice a gun in his pocket. He notices and says "oh this? Not bad is it?". "You're a long way from Philadelphia. What drove yall up south?" Rick asks. "The weather. Must've dropped 30 pounds in sweat alone down here" dale says. "First it was dc. Roads were so crowded we never even got close. Heard of a refugee camp. Nothing there. Been on the run since then" he says. "Soo y/n right? Lemme take a look at the knife on your belt?" Dale says getting up. He puts his hands on my waist and slowly moves them. "I said, show me the knife". "Back. Off." I say while looking dead into his eyes.
He tightens his grip and I punch him in the face. He gets back up and pulls his gun. Tony sits up and aims it at the other 3. "Show me the knife." He says. I grab the knife out of the belt. "Take the belt off while you're at it" he says. I look nervously at glenn. 'Dont.' He mouths. I take off the belt and feel his hands move closer to my butt. I hear a shot, then another. I watch as dale and tony both fall to the floor. I grab my belt and knife and put them back on. Glenn runs to me and hugs me "you're okay right?" He asks while cupping my face in his hands. "I'm fine glenn. I promise". I look over to rick. "Thank you" I say. All he does is nod. Well this is a mess.
Authors note- I changed it up a little bit this chapter because I want to mix it up a bit. I'm gonna stick to the story line but make little tweaks like this one. Lmk what you think :).
