Sage

After Patrick's birthday, I wanted to give Romeo a special gift. I even discussed it with the girls.

"What?" The girls asked me.

"Well, yeah." I played with my fingers.

Reese stood up. "Wait. Do you want to give Romeo your cherry? Did I hear you correctly?"

"Well, it would be special." I shrugged.

"Sage, are you even ready to take that step?" Rowan asked me.

"I want to give Romeo something special." I sighed.

"But sex is a big deal. Once it happens, there's no going back," Bailey said.

I knitted my brows.

"I think it's great," Leokadia said.

We looked at Leokadia.

"Think about it. It's something they can share. Plus, who doesn't want their first time with someone they love?"

The girls and I looked at each other and sighed.

Romeo

My birthday arrived with a prank. I woke up and noticed balloons in my bed. I moved the balloons away and sat up to find my bedroom floor covered in balloons. I knitted my brows and opened my mouth in confusion.

The door flew opened as my brothers shot out streamers and confetti at me. I closed my mouth and glowered at them. They laughed.

"Okay, I like Sage's ideas," Pat told our brothers.

My brothers snickered. I shook my head, crawled out of bed, and waded through the ocean of balloons. When I came out of my bedroom, I triggered a booby trap. Confetti exploded as a banner dropped with Happy Birthday displayed. I reached to my hair and pulled out confetti. I couldn't help but shake my head and smile.

I came downstairs as everyone yelled Happy Birthday. I stopped and gave everyone a look. Sage bounced towards me, threw her arms around me, and crashed her lips into mine. I wrapped my arms around her waist and lifted her off her feet.

Sage pulled back from me and smiled. "Did you like your surprise?"

"No."

Her smile vanished.

"I loved it." I grinned.

Sage's face lit up, and she kissed me again. Val's phone rang. He answered it, then handed me the phone. I set Sage down and took his phone from him.

"Hello?"

Why didn't you answer your phone?

"I was busy getting pranked and forgot to grab it."

Ma chuckled. Happy birthday, baby.

"Thanks."

We'll be there later to celebrate.

"I wouldn't expect anything less."

Ma and I spoke for a few minutes. Then I hung up and handed Val back his phone. We sat down and had breakfast.

"Who cooked?" I asked.

"I did," Val said.

I shrugged and dug in. Bailey rolled her eyes. Yeah, I refuse to get food poisoning on my birthday. After breakfast, I started cleaning up. My brothers stopped me and made me sit down in the living room.

I stretched out on the couch as Sage joined me. After my brothers finished cleaning up, we hung out. Eventually, I got dressed, so I wasn't a complete bum on my birthday.
