Liam
I helped Braydon open the bakery when the bell chimed. I glanced at Odin entering the bakery and walking towards the counter.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I got an interesting phone call."
"Did Romeo call you?"
"No, Rafe did."
My brows lifted.
"Let's talk, little brother."
I sighed, grabbed two coffees, and sat down at a table with Odin.
"I hear you're having issues because of a girl." Odin sipped his coffee.
"More like everyone else is having issues."
"Liam, I can't tell you what to do. But don't string this girl along before you end things. It's not fair to the girl."
"It's not like that with Reese. I enjoy spending time with her. Did you ever meet someone that captivates you?"
"Yeah, but I had to learn that sometimes, that feeling was fleeting. I'm not saying to break up with Reese, but distinguish between lust and love."
I sighed.
"You could have waited!" Someone said.
We glanced at the door to find Dad standing there. He strode to the table and sat down next to Odin.
"You brought Dad with you?" I asked Odin.
"No, Elias brought Dad and me with him." Odin raised a finger.
My brows raised.
*******
RomeoSomeone knocked on the front door. I opened it, and my eyes popped.
Dad stepped inside. "I figured if I sent you boys alone this year, you would be fine." Dad crossed his arms.
"Did Val call you?" I asked.
"Nope, I did." Rafe walked over to us and hugged Dad.
I placed my palm on my face and lowered it. "Why?"
"Because you're making things worse. I need to meet Kate. Later, hater." Rafe left the house.
"Romeo, your heart is in the right place, but you need to stay out of things."
I sighed.
"Let's talk." Dad guided me to the kitchen table.
We took a seat and faced each other.
"Son, I know you want to help your brother, but it will blow up in your face."
"What do you mean?"
"When your mom and I were younger, I plotted with my brothers and my mom. We convince your mom to fake date me to make Bradley jealous."
"But aren't you and Bradley friends?"
"We are now, but not back then. Your mom found out, and it almost cost me a chance with her."
I knitted my brows.
"The point is even if your intentions are well-meaning, it can hurt the other person."
"Rafe is my brother." I shrugged.
"And he's an adult and can make his own decisions. Don't worry about Rafe or the others. Worry about yourself."
I nodded. Dad and I talked for a while. It was nice to have one on one time with Dad. Eventually, he left and met Owen and Odin.
My notification dinged on my phone. I checked it found a reminder of a date tonight. The girl suggested an Italian place to meet for our date. I went upstairs to get ready.
