Narcissa's POV:

The drive to Jo's house was short. Maybe 10 minutes. It was a large house but nothing all that fancy. It was two stories and Jo told me her room was upstairs.

She pulled into something called a garage and shut the truck off, moving to my side to open the door.

"And they say chivalry is dead." I smirked.

She tossed her head back and let out a laugh.

"Oh I think you'll find chivalry is not dead when I'm around. Ok Lila might jump on you but she's very friendly. Are you ok with that?" She asked.

I nodded and gave her a smile.

"Alright, welcome to my humble abode." Jo said happily, opening the door.

"Woof!"

All of a sudden a big dog was jumping on top of me, licking my face and panting happily.

Jo caught me from falling over as I laughed at Lila's antics.

"Oh you're such a pretty girl. Hi sweetie. Look at your precious nose! Oh you're adorable!"

Jo was grinning at my love for her pup and she wrapped her arms around my shoulders.

"I'm so glad we met today. I really care about you Cissa." She murmured.

I absolutely melted at her words and loving gesture. No one has shown me any affection since I left Britain. Andy is the only one who ever hugged me.

"I'm so lucky to have ran into you. Literally. You're my knight in shining armor Jo." I sighed, relaxing against her chest as Lila finally got down.

"I'm lucky too. C'mon, lets go to my room. Do you want to stay for dinner? I'm a hell of a cook." She said with a grin.

"I'd love to. Anything is better than being- I mean, I'd love to." I stuttered as we entered Jo's room.

"What do you mean Cissa? Are things bad at home?"

My blood turned to ice at Jo's question. I don't know if I should lie or be honest. Mum and dad will not hesitate to harm Jo... since she's a muggle.

"Cissa... you're silence is answer enough. Come sit with me. I have to tell you something." Jo said quietly.

I allowed her to pull me onto the bed.

I sat next to her, her hands held mine as she looked into me eyes with a deep care.

"Narcissa... I know what you are." She said quietly.

I paled at her words. What? What dies she mean? Am ai not playing my muggle part well?? Shit! Think Narcissa think!

"Pardon me? I'm not sure I understand what you mean." I said cooly.

"Its ok Cissy. You're like me. You're a witch. You have magic. I know about the Black family. Even in the American Wizarding World, the Sacred 28 is well known. We have a lot of pureblood superiority here too. But I've known since I laid eyes on you. So be honest with me. Do your parents hurt you?" She asked.

I was stunned into silence. Jo's a witch too?! An American witch?! WHAT??? And oh god she's asking about my home life... fuck! Ok Narcissa you're in this deep. Better to be honest.

"Yes." I whispered, looking down at my lap, too ashamed to look Jo in the eyes. I'm a weak witch. Can't even stand up to my own parents. I don't deserve Jo. I don't deserve anything at all...

Without warning, Jo pulled me into her lap and held me tight, rocking me gently as if I were a small child.

"I'm so sorry. I'm so so sorry Cissy. Its not your fault. What they do is not your fault. And you are not your parents. You deserve happiness. You deserve the best my little dove." She cooed.
