The rumbling got louder to the point that I couldn't stand it. I strode across the bedroom and opened the door, with Delilah staring out the window and her ramen noodles all over the floor.
"That's not me" I breathed. Then, there was complete silence. But only for a second. Then a gust of wing blew the window open, and Storm flew in, looking all but happy. For a moment I was relieved, then I was terrified. An upset Storm was almost as scary as Professor Logan. But she didn't yell or scold. She was silent. Completely silent. That's was made her scary. She put all the poison into the words, not how she said them. She could be really gentle and understanding, or spitting poison.
"Delilah, please go occupy yourself else where," Storm said. It was more of a command than a request.
"Sure. No problem. Bye Nat. Have fun." She was gone before she finished her sentence. Once she was gone, Storm turned toward me, and I braced myself.
"So," she started. Crap. "WHAT exactly happened down stairs in Professor Logan's class-"
"It was an accident!" I almost screamed the claim. Then, noticing I had cut her off, bit my tongue, and we stood there in silence. "I'm sorry." I began again. "I didn't mean to. I had fallen asleep and the bell startled me. It was an accident. I'm REALLY sorry." After I had said it, Storm seemed to cool off. Was that all she was looking for? An apology? No. No way.
"I understand. Although,we had already discussed your punishment. For the next month, you will attend double practices after school and will clean the Blackbird after every mission."
"Umm, okay. Thanks for not killing me, Storm." I said, my eyes down.
She sighed. "You are welcome, but the first practice is in five minutes. Don't be late."
