"No no no! Not again!" I mumble under my breath as I run as fast as I possibly could down the hall(without knocking everything down with a 70 mile per hour wind)and into the musky, dank classroom....
"Crap!" I curse so quietly I couldn't even hear myself (and that's saying something) Wolve- "professor Logan"- was already there! But or course,he heard me. He could always hear you.
"Nautika. So glad you could jion us please, take a seat," he said this in a suprisingly pleasant tone. TOO pleasant. Well, I'm screwed.
Failed-to-be-suppressed laughs filled the class. I could feel my cheeks warming and 33 pairs of eyes boring into me. He told them to work on page 246, which I'm sure is going to be added to my already overflowing bundle of homework, not to mention extra credits to keep myself from failing my classes.
I started over to Delilah, who had a sort of pity in her eyes. But our professor held me back, and told me to go out into the hall.
His pale, blue eyes were filled with emotion. Was it.....anger? dissapionent? confusion? All of the above? I couldn't be sure. Not until I heard what he had to say in the hall.
When we stepped into the hall, I was ready for the worst.
"Nautika,I don't understand," he began,"your classes are four doors down from each other. How are you always late?"
"Sorry professor-"
"Sorry won't cut it this time, kid. You need to learn responsibility. I expect you in detention after school, and we are going to have a talk with Charles.
"But, professor,I-"he held up his hand, cutting me off. That look in his eyes.....it was disappointment. Now I've screwed up. Professor Logan was the only one who believed that I could actually pass eighth grade. I felt my cheeks getting hot again. Not from embarrassment, but from shame.
"Yes professor." I muttered as I lowered my eyes and walked back into class.
